How can they believe in him if they’ve never heard? And how can they hear unless someone tells them? There are over 70 million deaf people around the world.

Sadly, only 2% of them know about Jesus and the salvation He offers. In 2012, God opened my eyes to this painful reality via a young deaf girl in the village of Iganga. Her name was Muteesa and on a hot and sunny afternoon in July, God gave me a glimpse into her short, yet painful life. Immediately, my heart felt burdened for the Deaf people of Uganda and before I knew it, He had birthed a new pas

The Deaf church plant in Kampala, Uganda went on a missions trip to eastern Uganda to share the Gospel. They met several deaf people who didn’t know sign language and spent time teaching them (and the surrounding hearing community) some signs. It will require a lot more education and the favor of God to provide language fluency to those Deaf people. So we pray for exactly that—that they would learn Ugandan Sign Language quickly so that they’re able to understand the Cross and freedom that Jesus has for them.
Please continue to keep our church family in your prayers—for perseverance and provision to carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth for the glory of His Name!

Since finishing primary school, our girl, Pavin, has been attending a trade school and honing her sewing skills. She is thankful to God for the support and sponsorship in primary school that enabled her to get to this point, where she can prepare for her future.
To our current sponsors, thank you for your sacrifices each month that are allowing children to learn important life skills. More importantly, they’re learning language by which to know about Jesus!!

Today was a big, faith-filled day for Hands For Yesu.
We made the first round of tuition payments for our sponsored students at the Deaf school — securing their place in the classroom and setting the tone for a brand-new school year full of possibility.

And then… we did something bold.

We added two more students to our sponsorship program: Joy Vivian and Farmo.

Right now, they do not yet have sponsors. But without someone stepping in, they would not have been able to begin the new school year. Because of financial hardship in their families, school simply would not have been an option.

So we chose to act in faith.

We believe every child deserves access to education, to language, to opportunity — and sometimes that means saying “yes” before all the details are in place. We are trusting that the same God who opened this door for Joy Vivian and Farmo is already stirring hearts to walk through it.

Maybe you’ve considered sponsoring a deaf child before but had questions.
Maybe you’ve wondered about the cost or whether your support would truly make a difference.

It does. It changes everything.

If you feel even the smallest nudge, we would love to talk with you, answer your questions, and help you discern whether this is a step God is inviting you to take.

I wear several hats within our ministry. Interpreting at church is by far, one of my favorites! I praise God for the gift and talent to use sign language for the glory of His Name!

What a difference a day makes!
It made it up to 50 degrees today so we took advantage of the finally-not-frigid temps and took some laps around the neighborhood. We even had a friend join us!
It definitely isn’t the tropical Ugandan weather that we are desiring… but we will take what we can get. We will find joy in every season—even if it isn’t the most ideal of circumstances.
Because even in the winter, when everything seems to be hibernating or stagnant, our spirits don’t have to follow suit. God isn’t on vacation. He is still working miracles. So, despite the environment around us, spiritual growth can—and will—happen.

We are hoping that this is our last snowy weekend of the season….
Meanwhile, our friends in Uganda are returning to school for a new school year!!
Please join us in praying for their safety as they return, good health across the campus, and successful studies for each of our students!

Our students in Uganda will be heading back to school in the next couple of weeks. We have a long wait-list of students who are needing support in order to return to campus and resume their education.
Sponsoring a student is a great way to ensure that disadvantaged children learn language and have an opportunity to hear the Gospel. Plus, your monthly donations are tax-deductible.
