June marks National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and honour the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. Cadets continue to learn and grow through shared understanding and respect.

The Cadet Program promotes leadership through action. By taking on responsibility and supporting one another, cadets develop practical skills that prepare them for future challenges.

As Asian Heritage Month comes to a close, we reflect on the importance of cultural awareness and mutual respect. These values remain central to developing strong and inclusive leaders.

"I joined 3133 Algonquin Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps at 14, and in just two years the program has completely changed how I see myself as a leader. Through cadets, I’ve learned confidence, resilience, and how to step forward when others hesitate.

Some of my best experiences have come from summer training, where I developed the skills to instruct, lead, and support others in challenging environments. I also serve as the Army Cadet representative for Northern Ontario on the Regional Cadet Advisory Council, where I help bring cadet voices forward and strengthen the program for others.

Being a female cadet means leading with confidence, breaking limits, and showing that leadership has no gender. The Cadet Program has shaped me into someone I’m proud to be — and given me the chance to inspire others to aim higher too."

As cadets prepare for the next stage in their journey, they carry forward the values and skills they have developed. These experiences help shape confident individuals ready to contribute to their communities and to Canada.
