Who knows the history behind this photo?

Who remembers Farrells?

There was exactly one sound in that restaurant that meant somebody's whole night was about to get a lot more embarrassing, and a lot more delicious. 🍨🚨

Southern California, 1971. Farrell's ran on a very specific kind of theater, striped vests, straw hats, a player piano tinkling somewhere in the background, and a dessert so enormous it needed its own wheeled cart just to make it across the room. When that siren started up, the whole restaurant knew what was coming before the birthday kid did, heads turning table to table as the server crew wound their way through the dining room with a banana split the size of a serving tray, piled with more scoops and cherries than any one family could reasonably finish. The birthday kid usually turned some shade of red trying to hide behind a napkin while the whole place watched and clapped. Nobody left that parlour hungry, and nobody who had a birthday there ever quite forgot it either.

Did you ever have a birthday at Farrell's, and do you remember how loud that siren actually was?
