Exciting news for the Merri Creek Labyrinth!!! 🌿

We’re thrilled to share that the Labyrinth redevelopment has received funding through the City of Yarra Community Grants program.

Works will take place over in late February / March to improve drainage, safety, and long-term resilience of this much-loved community space.

During this time, the Labyrinth area will be temporarily closed while works are carried out. The surrounding parkland and Merri Creek Trail will remain open.

Thank you, Yarra City, FOMC, Avoca landscapers and to everyone who has supported this project over the years, cementing its place as a space, for contemplation….connection and healing for a long, long time to come. 💚🙏💚

Dear Labyrinth friends,

I’m writing to share some sad news with the Merri Creek Labyrinth community.

Steve Martin, who many of you will know through his long-standing involvement with the Labyrinth, passed away in December last year...

Steve played a key role in helping establish the Friends of the Merri Creek Labyrinth. His care for the space and for the community was immeasurable, and he will be greatly missed...
But his presence is woven into both the physical Labyrinth and the network of people who continue to care for it.

To honour Steve, we will be holding a small planting ceremony:

We’ll gather to plant a tree together as a living acknowledgement of Steve’s contribution and connection to this place. It will be a simple, informal gathering...Bring a flower if you wish, people are welcome to stay afterwards to walk the Labyrinth.

If you feel called to attend, you’d be very welcome. ❤️

We are seeking a few individuals for a relaxed Listening session over coffee or two to offer feedback on our proposal to Yarra City Community Grants for the redevelopment of the Merri Creek Labyrinth.

Together with the City of Yarra we’ve spent the last four years revegetating the precinct…Now it’s time to give the Labyrinth itself some love!

To celebrate World Environment Day, we’re holding a community Planting Day around the Merri Creek Labyrinth on Saturday 8 June, 10:30 am–12:30 pm. We’ll be adding new native plants to keep the labyrinth thriving, and we’d love your help.

No gardening experience needed. Just bring your own gloves; botanist Felix Botanica will guide the planting.

Merri Creek Labyrinth Planting Day Join us for a fun day of planting native plants in the Merri Creek Labyrinth - let's make our community greener together!

Come join a Friday evening picnic and guided labyrinth walk to celebrate Harmony Day at the Merri Creek Labyrinth. Tash will bring a variety of labyrinth examples to show the many designs and cultures that use labyrinths from all around the world while we picnic and chat. Then at 7pm we will walk together. The event is free with donations accepted to support wildlife care and recovery in the Grampians/Gariwerd.
