The real impact of redevelopment begins after the project is complete.

For us, success isn’t measured by dollars spent. It’s measured by what happens next: new businesses, private investment, activated storefronts, housing, jobs, stronger public spaces and historic places given new life.

From ReTRAC and Greater Nevada Field to the Riverwalk and ReStore, the real impact is the momentum each investment creates.

Our latest blog explains how we measure that ripple effect and track the long-term value of redevelopment.

This is what happens when potential meets investment.

Through the 2025 ReStore program, a largely vacant building on South Virginia Street received facade and interior improvements. Today, that space is home to Kiln Reno, a new coworking community built for entrepreneurs, professionals and growing teams.

That’s redevelopment in action: reactivating an underused property, attracting new businesses and creating more activity in the surrounding neighborhood.

ReStore doesn’t just improve spaces. It helps make room for what’s next.

Applications are open through October 2. Learn more: https://renoreup.com/programs-incentives/restore/

Big impact can start with a Small Wall.

The Small Walls Program brings public art into Reno’s redevelopment areas by transforming blank and underused walls into creative points of interest.

Delivered in partnership with the City of Reno Arts & Culture Department, these projects support artists, add character to commercial properties and help create memorable places that people want to explore.

A broken window can affect more than one pane. It can change how people see and treat an entire property.

With support from the ReStore Façade and Tenant Improvement Program, the Morris Burner Hotel updated their unique window panes along Fourth Street and completed additional improvements that enhanced the building’s appearance and functionality.

“When you fix one broken pane, they’ll stay fixed,” said Chuck Reilly. “If you leave one broken pane, then all the other panes are going to break because people lose respect.”

The ReStore Program helps eligible businesses and property owners invest in improvements that strengthen their properties and contribute to Reno’s redevelopment areas.

Applications are now open for this year’s program. Could your property be the next ReStore success story? Learn more and apply at Renoreup.com.

Where does redevelopment funding come from?

Redevelopment is primarily funded through growth in property tax revenue generated within designated redevelopment areas. It is not a new or additional tax.

As these areas grow, a portion of the increased revenue is reinvested into projects and programs that support continued improvement, encourage investment and strengthen the surrounding community.

Reno is on the rise.

LinkedIn ranked Reno No. 3 on its 2026 Cities on the Rise list, recognizing the 25 fastest-growing U.S. metro areas for jobs and new talent.

The ranking tracks where hiring is increasing, employers are posting more jobs and professionals are choosing to build their careers. LinkedIn highlighted Reno’s strength in advanced manufacturing and innovation, business-friendly policies and access to year-round outdoor recreation.

This is what momentum looks like: new opportunities, growing industries and more reasons to invest in Reno’s next chapter.
