104th Training Division

Capt. Thomas O’Ban served as trial counsel in support of the Army Office of the Special Trial Counsel for a high-profile 2025 case. In the months leading up to the trial, he played a key role in trial preparation, substantive evidentiary pretrial motions, and ultimately the guilty plea and sentencing hearing on April 24, 2025. For his outstanding performance and participation throughout the case, O’Ban received the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM). The award was presented by Brig. Gen. Vance Kuner, commanding general of the 104th Training Division, during a ceremony on Dec. 14, 2025.

On Dec. 13, 2025, the 104th Division (LT) conducted a promotion ceremony during which Maj. Eric Moffat was promoted to Lieutenant colonel and 1st Lt. Peter Pinedo was promoted to captain. Soldiers assigned to the division and family members of the promoted soldiers attended the ceremony.

The two Drill Sergeants who were announced winners will PCS to Fort Eustis and work directly for him as key advisors on all things Initial Entry Training into the U.S. Army.

In August 1943, former 104th Division Commander Maj. Gen. Terry Allen, was featured on the cover of TIME magazine for his bold leadership, front-line presence, and unwavering commitment to the soldiers.

Already proven in North Africa and Sicily, Maj. Gen. Allen took command of the 104th Infantry Division and led the Timberwolves through Europe, helping secure the Allied victory in World War II.

Maj. Gen. Allen was a soldier's general, respected for leading from the front and standing by his troops. His legacy continues in the Timberwolf spirit—tough, determined, and always ready.

In July of 1948, the 104th Division held their very first summer training, bringing the lethality and dedication forged on the battlefields of WW2 to the training field. Every summer from 1948 until today, the 104th Division has upheld the same standard to train the future leaders of the Army.

Did you know Soldiers from the 104th Division (Leader Training) play a critical role in the Sandhurst Competition at West Point?

This year, over 60 Soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 304th Regiment brought the Timberwolf standard to the Hudson Valley—serving as instructors, evaluators, and safeties for one of the most intense and prestigious military skills competitions in the world.

Sandhurst is no joke. It pushes Cadets and international teams through physically grueling, tactically complex challenges designed to test leadership, endurance, and grit. And it’s the Soldiers of the 104th Division—especially the 3-304th—who make it all possible.

These Timberwolves don’t just support the mission—they lead it.
They set the bar. They uphold the standard.
They’re the reason Cadets leave better trained, better tested, and more lethal.
