⚠️ Watch Out for Vehicle Spiking ⚠️

Spikes or other objects are placed on the road to cause damage to vehicles forcing affected motorists to stop. When the vehicles comes to a standstill, criminals rob and assault drivers and passengers.

📌 if your vehicle is spiked, slow down to a safe speed and attempt to drive as far away as possible from the crime scene.

📌 if possible, stop at a safe, well-lit place, police station, service station.

📌 Most spiking happens at nights. Travel during the day if possible.

📌 Travel in cluster and stay close to your convoy during your travels.

ERT Paramedics and Renegade community watch tactical response team was called out to a fatal bike verse pedestrian accident today around 12.30
Paramedics ariived on scene to find a young male believed to be in his 20s lying in the road along with his bike immediately netcare aeromedical helicopter was called out
The biker was airlifted in a critical condition and the pedestrian was declared dead on scene

ERT PARAMEDICS was just on scene of a single vehicle crash on the corner of lighthouse road and Tara Road on the Bluff
No injuries where reported

ERT PARAMEDICS was called out to assist in a search and rescue of 2 19 year old boys who allegedly drowned in the uMlazi river last week Disaster Management was was requested and two helicopters search the river from above unfortunately there was no signs of the boys anywhere
The decision was later made to call off the search.

M4 Tongaat River bridge - CLOSED
Springfield Park China Mall flooded.
M4 Southern Freeway is closed
Wall collapsed from DCC Church to Ahmed Al-Kadi Hospital.
The M13 is a no go zone from mudslides to trees across all lanes. Fields Hill is particularly bad.
Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR) from Caltex Garage by Blue Lagoon all the way to Kings Park is flooded.
M19 closed at bottom use N2 to Pinetown via St. John's.
N2 north of Salt rock is closed. N2 ,R102 and P103 at rain farm are all closed. Umhlali River cannot be crossed at the moment.
Please avoid traveling and stay close to your residence. Police, emergency services and towing are trying best to attend what they can or what they can get to. Please avoid traveling for your own safety.

As the rain continues for a 5th day, please stop asking if it is safe to drive from area X to area Y. Unless you ABSOLUTELY need to leave home, you are advised to keep off the roads. The emergency teams have their hands full and lots of roads are waterlogged.

WEATHER UPDATE: RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO STAY AT HOME AS HEAVY RAINS CONTINUE ACROSS KZN, SANDF ROPED IN TO PROVIDE SUPPORT

The inclement weather conditions are continuing to cause havoc across our province.

Residents residing in low lying areas are urged to seek shelter on higher ground, disaster management teams have opened public facilities such as community halls for those that need shelter.

The department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs is working together with social partners and sister departments to ensure that there is interim relief for those that are housed in shelters.

So far the extent of the heavy rains is across the province with eThekwini being one of the most affected areas.

Our teams are still collating the extent of the damage so far.

We wish to commend the brave disaster management teams, law enforcement and first aid responders for working all night to protect and preserve human life amid difficult circumstances.

Disaster management teams have been evacuating people in areas that have experienced mudslides, flooding, and structural collapses of buildings and roads. The heavy rains have affected power lines in many municipalities with technical teams working around the clock to restore power.

Residents in areas that are on higher ground are urged to open up their homes for their neighbours who are stranded as a result of the flooding caused by the heavy rains. Many roads are blocked and residents are requested to avoid unnecessary journeys.

The inclement weather conditions are expected to continue today and the South African Weather Service has warned of significant rainfall in eThekwini, KwaDukuza, Mandeni, Maphumulo, Ndwedwe, Ray Nkonyeni, Umdoni, Mkhambathini, Richmond, Msunduzi, uBuhlebezwe, uMlalazi, uMngeni, uMshwathi, Umuziwabantu, uMvoti, Umzimkhulu, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Umzumbe municipalities.

This increases the risk of flooding getting worse in all these areas.

The Provincial Disaster Management Centre has activated support from the South African National Defence Force for them to provide aerial support where necessary.

Southern freeway on both bounds- the extreme left lanes are flooded. Three lanes open to traffic

N2 by the old airport roadway flooded on the extreme left lane - slow moving traffic

N2 south and north bound slow moving traffic roadway floors as well as land slide

Tara Road and Quality Street closed off flooding

Himalayas Road closed off to traffic

Mondi Road in the south closed off - danger of the canal over flowing

Bluff areas drivers have to proceed with caution lots of flown debris and trees on roadway
