KZN ANCWL PTT EXTENDS HEARTFELT CONDOLENCES TO FAMILIES AFFECTED BY HEAVY RAINS IN MTUBATUBA AND OTHER AREAS IN THE PROVINCE

The Provincial Task Team of the ANC Women's League in KwaZulu-Natal is deeply saddened by the loss of at least four lives in various areas of Mtubatuba, located in the northern parts of our province, due to heavy rains over the weekend.

As the KZN ANCWL led by Cde. Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi, as the Convener, we convey our sincere condolences to the grieving families and friends who have suffered this tragic loss. Our thoughts are also with those who have lost their homes, possessions, and valuable belongings.

We urgently call upon all relevant government departments, including Social Development and Human Settlements, to swiftly respond to these disasters and help restore the lives of the affected people in Mtubatuba and other reported rain-affected areas.

Furthermore, we are aware that regions such as Harry Gwala, Moses Mabhida, Mzala Nxumalo, and Tolomane Myayiza have also experienced damages, leaving some families homeless due to the destructive power of the rain.

In response, we have mobilized our volunteers from the Nokuhamba Nyawo Region to provide emotional support to the affected families in Mtubatuba. We urge all ANCWL volunteers across the province to offer assistance and aid in profiling the victims to ensure that every affected individual receives the necessary government support.

Cde Sithole-Moloi stated, "As the ANCWL in the province, we are deeply concerned about the devastation caused by the heavy rains in our region. Our members will visit affected families to offer support, recognizing that some school children have lost their uniforms and stationery. We stand in solidarity with mothers during this challenging period and plead with other organizations and the government to expedite assistance speedily."

With the rainy season upon us, the ANCWL advises families to take precautionary measures for their safety. We encourage everyone to heed weather alerts and, where possible, relocate to safer areas.

The ANC Women’s League is open to women who are members of the ANC and has the same basic structure, namely, National, Provincial Regional and Branch. Its objectives are to defend and advance the rights of women, both inside and outside the ANC, against all forms of national, social, and gender oppression and to ensure that women play a full role in the life of the organization, in the people’s struggle and in national life. The Women’s League functions as an autonomous body within the overall structure of the ANC, of which it is an integral part, with its own Constitution, rules, and regulations, provided that they are not in conflict with the Constitution and policies of the ANC.
