Blossom Valley Byeboerdery Pollination Services and Honey Production Blossom Valley Beyeboerdery started in July 2019 with one hive.

We gradually grew over the last couple of years and currently provide pollination services to most farmers in Mpumalanga and Limpopo. We also produce good quality raw honey made from crops in our area aswell as the natural bush.

Stressed plants = darker honey. Here’s why!

First, that doesn’t mean a lower honey quality. It simply reflects this year’s weather and crop conditions!

This year was a drought year. A hard one. The kind where you catch a rain, feel hopeful, and then hot wind follows and dries everything right back out before it can do much. The clover struggled. The nectar flow was inconsistent. And the bees worked with what they had.

When drought and heat stress nectar sources, bees pull from a wider variety of plants. Not just the clover and alfalfa we count on, but whatever is available and surviving. These sources aren't only darker; they're also stressed.

Which is another reason you know when you buy from Dakota Honey, you’re buying the real stuff! Every year won't be the same! Every jar tells the story of what happened that year, almost like a w**e will!

This year's story was a hard one but the honey is still real, still pure, and still straight from our South Dakota hives. That part never changes no matter what the weather does.

Honey fraud is completely off the scale.

We're not talking about a tiny splash of syrup. Bernhard's investigation found jars sold as honey containing 30% to 90% syrup. Some had only 10% honey left.

He went undercover inside the factories making it. The scale is bloody frightening, and real beekeepers are being pushed out by a product they can never compete with.

Would you still buy a jar if you couldn't trace it back to the beekeeper?

Honey fraud is not a small problem.

It is organised crime, happening across the world, putting fake honey in front of customers who think they are buying the real thing.

Yesterday I released my interview with Bernard Heuvel - honey fraud investigative journalist, president of the European Beekeepers Association, and one of the people leading the fight back.

If you are a beekeeper, this matters.

Bernard went to China, posed as a fake honey buyer, learnt their secrets, exposed what was really going on, and some of the people involved are now in prison for their crimes.

This is one of the most important conversations I’ve had on the channel.
