❤️ A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM LEXI | ALL HEARTS FOUNDATION 🐺
Dear supporters,
Over time, we have shared videos explaining our financial struggles. Yesterday, I said that if things didn’t improve very soon, we would be facing a massive crisis.
Today, I feel that crisis is here.
We are eternally grateful that we secured our property and that our animals have a safe place to call home. But securing the property doesn’t mean the sanctuary stops costing money to run. We are struggling to keep everything afloat, and I need you to understand just how serious things have become.
OUR MONTHLY SANCTUARY EXPENSES
Throughout the month, these are some of the essential costs we must cover:
🐺 Animal food and supplies: R25,000 | $1,429
📱 Phones, data and internet: R6,000 | $343
🛡️ Insurance: R10,000 | $571
⚡ Electricity: R7,000–R15,000 | $400–$857
🚙 Vehicle repayment: R6,500 | $371
👷 Staff wages: R30,000 | $1,714
🥫 Staff food and essentials: R2,000 | $114
🩺 Veterinary care: R5,000–R25,000 | $286–$1,429
Our total monthly running costs range between R120,000 and R160,000 ($6,857–$9,143) when additional expenses, fuel, diesel, repairs, equipment, maintenance and unexpected emergencies are taken into account.
Our realistic target is approximately $10,000 per month just to keep the sanctuary afloat and break even. This does not include catching up on outstanding debts.
Our Eskom account is now R42,000 ($2,400) outstanding, we owe R7,000 ($400) on our hardware account, and our staff have not been paid. We still have outstanding veterinary bills despite being incredibly grateful for our veterinary sponsor’s monthly contribution.
We need specific diets for our farm animals, monkeys and raccoons. Dog and cat food sponsorships help enormously, but they don’t cover every animal or eliminate our need to purchase food.
I am even considering selling our 2019 Ford Ranger, our reliable sanctuary vehicle used for inspections and helping animals in difficult and sometimes unsafe situations, because I am terrified of falling behind on its repayments.
And personally, I am struggling more than many people realise.
My cancer treatment has taken a serious toll on my body and mental health. I am battling depression and severe carpal tunnel symptoms, and some days I can barely feel my right hand.
I have had to rely on ChatGPT, something I am genuinely grateful for, to help me construct many of my posts because I can no longer type the way I used to. My content creation has slowed down, and it is causing me immense stress because our content is one of the ways we reach supporters, raise funds and find sponsors.
Behind the scenes, I am trying to hold everything together while dealing with my own health challenges. The animals still need to eat, the electricity still needs to be paid, and our staff still need their wages.
Our promised donation-match sponsor has also stopped responding, and once again, we have been left disappointed when we desperately needed that support.
I am not sharing this for sympathy. I am sharing it because we cannot continue like this without help.
❤️ WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY NOW.
Our animal sponsorships start at just $18 per month (R300). We have never increased that amount.
Imagine the difference if more of our followers contributed $1, $10 or $50. Small contributions, when combined, can change everything.
We have moved mountains together to secure our property and give our animals a safe home. I am eternally grateful to every person who helped make that possible.
Now I am begging you to stand together with us once again.
Please sponsor an animal, donate towards our running costs, share this post or connect us with a business that could help. We desperately need to pay our staff, settle our outstanding bills and keep this sanctuary operating.
I am not a quitter. I will keep fighting for these animals, but I am tired, I am overwhelmed, and I cannot carry this burden alone.
PLEASE READ THIS UNTIL THE END. MAKE AN IMPACT. MAKE A CHANGE TODAY.
