NEWSTANCE ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT: FIRST PHASE TO BENEFIT 200 HOUSEHOLDS
The Municipality, led by the Mayor Cllr Johannes Roman, together with Cllr Neo Magagane and Municipal officials engaged with the Newstance community of Ward 5 as part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve access to basic services.
The engagement follows a meeting held on 22 September 2026, during which the Mayor informed the community of the upcoming electrification project and committed to returning to formally introduce the project team.
The Municipality officially introduced Mekan Engineering as the appointed consultant and LeanoLarona Holdings as the contractor responsible for the implementation of the first phase of the Newstance Electrification Project.
The first phase will focus on the electrification of the first 200 houses in Newstance, marking an important step towards expanding access to electricity and improving living conditions for residents.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the community to meet the project team, gain an understanding of the project and receive information regarding the implementation process.
The Municipality remains committed to working closely with the Newstance community, project stakeholders and all relevant partners to support the successful implementation of this important infrastructure project.
