Khayelitsha Libraries Celebrate International Literacy Day with 1000 Stories Before School Membership drive campaign

In partnership with Khayelitsha District Hospital, Isivivana Library, Dlala Tata, Assitej SA and Kapa Kaap Books, we brought the joy of reading and library services closer to patients and families.

Libee (Library mascot) brought smiles to children in the wards as they enjoyed storytelling with their parents and caregivers.

The activation also aims to introduce monthly storytelling sessions in clinics & maternity wards, promoting reading from birth.

A big thank you to our amazing partners!

Every child deserves a story.

Every Wednesday, We Read! 📚✨

At Khayelitsha Library, in partnership with Nal’ibali and Dlala Tata, young men come together for a Men’s Literacy Workshop promoting reading, storytelling and meaningful conversations.

Facilitated by respected author and Nal’ibali Community Development Coordinator Madoda Ndlakuse, the sessions draw on his experience as a writer, father, son, uncle and community leader to inspire dialogue and nurture a love of reading. 📖✨
