Ratlou Local Municipality Launches Service Delivery War Room
SETLAGOLE, 14 September 2026: Ratlou Local Municipality officially launched its Service Delivery War Room at the Municipal Chamber on Friday, 11 September 2026, as part of its efforts to strengthen the municipality’s response to service delivery challenges affecting local communities.
The War Room was established following a decision by MUNIMEC (Municipalities and MECs) to create a coordinated platform for reporting, monitoring and addressing service delivery challenges.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr Seth Ramagaga, Chief Director: Planning and Development at the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), emphasised that the War Room must enable the municipality to respond promptly and effectively to issues affecting communities.
Mr Ramagaga identified water, sanitation, roads and stormwater management as key service delivery matters requiring particular attention, noting that these issues directly affect communities on a daily basis. “The War Room must be able to respond immediately to issues within our communities,” he said.
The War Room will meet weekly to analyse reported issues, maintain proper records, monitor progress and ensure that matters are followed through to resolution. It will also proactively identify service delivery blockages instead of waiting for complaints from communities.
Municipal Manager Mr Lloyd Leoko committed the municipality to working diligently to ensure the success of the War Room and called on all members to play their part in improving service delivery and responding to the needs of residents.
