NATIONAL ACTIVE AGEING PROGRAMME.

Golden Games.

Mangaung, Free State, 30 to 31 October 2026.

Team Limpopo proudly placed third overall at the Games, with KZN and Gauteng placing respectively first and second.

Both MEC Florence Radzilani and HoD Thembeni Mhlongo have praised the team's performance and expressed their pride in them.

Team Limpopo also won the women’s football and placed second overall in the athletics division.

Limpopo Female Football team at the Golden Games beats KZN in a penalty shootout! Our golden girls drew one all before a nerve wracking 5 - 3 shootout at Dr. Rantlai Molemela stadium, Mangaung, Free State Province.

Other firsts for team Limpopo today at the Golden Games, which are part of the Active Ageing Programme, include the 800m male and female event for ages 60 to 70; 100m male 70 and above; 200m female 70 and above, and 4 x 100m relay 70 and above.

Social Development Minister Dina P**e has officially opened the National Active Ageing Programme in Mangaung, Free State Province. The stage is now set for a successful Golden Games and Choir Festival on Day 1 of the Programme.

Team Limpopo arrived in high spirits at Dr. Rantlai Molema stadium where they will be participating in various games such as ball kick and pass, jukskei, rugby ball throw and of course, football against the other eight provinces. Limpopo Social Development Head of Department Ms. Thembeni Mhlongo joined the team for the parade this morning.

The Programme, also supported by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Limpopo is aimed at ensuring the dignity, health and longevity of our older persons or as we like to call them, our golden boys and girls.

Limpopo MEC for the Department of Social Development, Mme Florence Radzilani, today handed over 100 food parcels to underprivileged households at Bangalong Village in the Lephalale Local Municipality.

The handover ceremony was supported by local and regional leadership, including Mma Ntona Modise, Cllr Dipuo Moatshe representing the Executive Mayor of Waterberg District Municipality, Lephalale Local Municipality Mayor Cllr Thabitha Modise, Speaker Cllr Alfios Thulare, and Chief Whip Cllr Joseph Machaba.

Speaking during the event, MEC Radzilani urged community members to work closely with social workers and community development practitioners. She emphasized that close cooperation is essential to ensure that verification processes are seamless and that support reaches those who qualify and need it most.

Today, Limpopo MEC for the Department of Social Development, Mme Florence Radzilani handed over food parcels to 82 households and gardening equipments to 30 households at AFM Church in Ha-Davhana, Collins Chabane Municipality.

MEC Radzilani was joined by Thovhele Vho David Davhana, Cllr Fredah Nkondo representing the Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, as well as Members of the Mayoral Committee, Cllr Dories Mabasa and Cllr Petunia Mahlaule.

This is part of the Department's ongoing efforts to alleviate poverty and foster sustainable community development.

Limpopo MEC for the Department of Social Development, Mme Florence Radzilani, has arrived at the Tshiruluni Traditional Authority in Ha-Davhana under Collins Chabane Local Municipality.

MEC Radzilani is currently engaged in a briefing session with Thovhele Vho D.D Davhana ahead of today's scheduled food parcel handover ceremony at the AFM Church.

This initiative forms part of the department's ongoing commitment to support vulnerable families and strengthen social relief efforts across local communities.

This morning, the Limpopo MEC for Social Development, Ms. Florence Radzilani, visited the Nkanyane family at Malamulele Section C to offer deep condolences on behalf of the Provincial Government following the tragic death of Ms Khanani Nkanyane.

Khanani was tragically shot and killed on October 20, 2026, in an incident of gender-based violence involving her husband, who subsequently took his own life. She leaves behind three young children.

MEC Radzilani strongly condemned the incident and expressed deep concern over the persistent rise in Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) cases across the province, emphasizing the urgent need for peaceful conflict resolution within families and communities.

The MEC was joined by Cllr Fredah Nkondo representing the Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Dories Mabasa, and Cllr Petunia Mahlaule who are members of the Mayoral Committee.
