🚨 Mogalakwena Community Shutdown: Demanding Jobs, Water, Better Roads, SLP Compliance And Accountability From Valterra Platinum Mine And Ivanplats Mine!

The Office of the Mayor, in conjunction with community leadership and the OTM, hereby issues an urgent call to action to all residents of Mogalakwena.

We are standing up to demand accountability, local employment, and fair community development from the mining sector.

The community shutdown protest marches will proceed as follows:

🔹 Protest Action 1: Valterra Platinum

• Date: Monday, 11 January 2027
• Target: Valterra Platinum
• Objective: Demanding local economic inclusion and resource equity.

🔹 Protest Action 2: Ivanplats Mokopane

• Date: Monday, 18 January 2027
• Target: Ivanplats Mine (Mokopane)
• Objective: Enforcing compliance on community upliftment agreements.

🗳️ VICTOR MOKONYANE: VOTING FOR CHANGE, DEVELOPMENT AND A BETTER FUTURE!

On 4 November 2026, the President of
OTM Political Party and Mogalakwena Mayoral Candidate, Victor Mokonyane, will cast his vote at Mahloma Primary School in Wydhoek Village, where he completed his primary education.

Returning to the village where his journey began is a reminder of the challenges that many communities continue to face, including poor roads, damaged bridges, water shortages and high unemployment, particularly among young people.

In some rural communities, residents still depend on rivers and water wells for their daily water needs. Poor road infrastructure also makes travelling to town difficult for residents and taxi operators. These challenges highlight the urgent need for meaningful development in both rural villages and urban communities.

Victor Mokonyane stands for the people and believes that every community deserves access to clean water, proper roads, employment opportunities and reliable essential services.

Through practical initiatives, including efforts to drill boreholes in rural communities and support access to employment opportunities, he is committed to addressing the needs of ordinary people.

His vision is to build a Mogalakwena where young people have opportunities to succeed, service delivery improves, public resources are managed responsibly, and no village is left behind.

Tomorrow, he will casts his vote with hope for a fresh beginning, accountable leadership and real change for the people of Mogalakwena.

MORRIS MONTEGO MALULEKA TO REMAIN IN CUSTODY UNTIL 4 DECEMBER 2026

The President of OTM Political Party and Mogalakwena Local Municipality Mayoral Candidate, Victor Mokonyane, would like to thank the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court for postponing the matter to 4 December 2026.

Morris Montego Maluleka will remain in custody, while his co-accused will be released. The matter will be transferred to the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for further proceedings.

Victor Mokonyane also extends his appreciation to the Commercial Crime Unit for its role in the process.

OTM Political Party calls on the community of Mogalakwena to remain calm, respect the legal process, and allow the courts to do their work.

Justice, accountability, and the recovery of public funds remain important for the people of Mogalakwena.
