MEDIA STATEMENT: REAFFIRMING THE CENTRALITY OF THE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN: SONA AND PARLIAMENT

Ahead of SONA 2026, the NPC calls upon the President to reassert the centrality of the NDP: Vision 2030 as the lodestar and planning blueprint of the country, as we move towards the 2030 developmental horizon.

Following the 2026 State of the Nation Address, the NPC will host a Post-SONA Virtual Engagement to reflect on key messages from the President’s address and their alignment with the National Development Plan.

The session will feature a moderated panel discussion with Commissioners, followed by an open engagement with participants.

The NPC has successfully concluded its Lekgotla, held on 4–5 December 2025 in Pretoria As the Commission enters its final year of office in 2026, the Lekgotla provided a strategic moment to reflect on the work undertaken since its appointment in 2021.

Commissioners assessed key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned, while consolidating the legacy the current NPC aims to leave.
