CHILILABOMBWE MAYOR HON. KANENGU NAWA HOSTS ZAMBIAN FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE DELEGATION TO STRENGTHEN HEALTH PARTNERSHIP

His Worship the Mayor of Chililabombwe, Hon. Kanengu Nawa, today received a high-level courtesy call from the Zambian Flying Doctor Service (ZFDS) at the Civic Centre.

The delegation from the Zambian Flying Doctor Service called on His Worship the Mayor to explore areas of collaboration in strengthening emergency medical services, enhancing health outreach programmes, and improving access to quality healthcare for the people of Chililabombwe District.

During the meeting, the team briefed His Worship the Mayor on their mandate and highlighted the ongoing health projects currently being undertaken in Chililabombwe, particularly in Kasumbalesa, which is a key strategic area due to its high population density and cross-border activities.

Immediately after the courtesy call, His Worship the Mayor led the delegation on a site inspection tour in Kasumbalesa to appreciate the ongoing construction works of a health facility. The project, which is progressing well, is expected to be completed and commissioned before the end of this year.

The Mayor expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and thanked the Zambian Flying Doctor Service for choosing Chililabombwe as a partner district.
"We value this partnership greatly. Access to quality and timely healthcare is a top priority for the Council and the New Dawn Government under the leadership of His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema. This collaboration will go a long way in improving the health and well-being of our communities, especially our people in Kasumbalesa," said Hon. Nawa.

The Zambian Flying Doctor Service delegation also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Local Authority to ensure that emergency and specialized health services are brought closer to the people.

Present during the meeting was the Council Management and other senior officials.

Chililabombwe Municipal Council remains committed to fostering partnerships that enhance service delivery and uplift the lives of our residents.

CHILILABOMBWE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL'S HOUSING DEPARTMENT THROUGH KASUMBALESA MARKET MISTRESS CONDUCTS MASSIVE CLEAN-UP EXERCISE TO PROMOTE A HEALTHY COMMUNITY

The Housing Department of the Chililabombwe Municipal Council, through the Office of the Kasumbalesa Market Mistress, today successfully conducted a massive clean-up exercise at Kasumbalesa Market aimed at promoting a clean, healthy and orderly trading environment.

The exercise was led by Kasumbalesa Market Mistress Madam Musitasha Witola, working in close collaboration with Kasumbalesa Ward Councilor Hon. Royd Makungo. They were joined by Community Ambassador Mr. Nathan Muleba, market committee members, traders and concerned members of the community.

The team undertook extensive cleaning of the market premises and surroundings, which included sweeping of the market area, collection and proper disposal of solid waste, unblocking of drainage systems, and sensitization of traders on the importance of upholding high standards of hygiene and waste management.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, Market Mistress Madam Witola thanked all traders and stakeholders who participated, stating that the initiative is part of the department's continued commitment to promoting public health, dignity and a conducive business environment for all.

She emphasized that the leadership in Kasumbalesa is determined to ensure the market remains clean, safe and user-friendly for both traders and customers.

The exercise is in line with the visionary call by His Worship the Mayor of Chililabombwe District, who has always stressed that "Cleanliness is the pride of the district."
"A clean Kasumbalesa is a healthy Kasumbalesa. We must all take collective responsibility in keeping our market and community clean. Together we can make a great difference," the leaders said.

Meanwhile, traders and residents have commended the initiative and called for it to be held regularly as a preventive measure against disease outbreaks such as cholera, especially as the rainy season approaches.

SHABA MEDIA CELEBRATES TEACHERS ON WORLD TEACHERS' DAY

As Shaba Media - UPND Media Team, Chililabombwe District, we join His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, the Government, and the entire nation in celebrating World Teachers' Day under the theme: "Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession."

Today, we celebrate and appreciate the selfless men and women who have dedicated their entire lives to shaping our minds, building character and inspiring generations.

A teacher's role goes far beyond standing in front of a classroom. Teachers are nation builders. They plant seeds of knowledge, confidence, discipline, integrity and hope that continue to grow and bear fruit throughout a person's life.

Every successful doctor, engineer, lawyer, journalist, entrepreneur, President, Minister and farmer once sat in a classroom guided by a teacher. Behind every great career and every great leader, there is a teacher who identified potential, believed in a learner when they felt like giving up, and proved that dreams are valid and achievable.

Teachers transform not only careers but destinies. Through patience, dedication and sacrifice, they nurture talent, impart critical skills and provide the moral compass needed to succeed in life. Often, it is a teacher's simple word of encouragement, a late extra lesson, or a moment of correction that changes a student's entire life trajectory. Their lessons go beyond textbooks โ€” they teach responsibility, perseverance, leadership, patriotism and the importance of serving others.

On this special day, we salute every teacher in Chililabombwe and across Zambia who has stayed late to help a learner, patiently explained a difficult lesson, mentored a struggling pupil and inspired many to pursue their dreams against all odds. Your work may not always receive immediate recognition or reward, but your impact is indelible and lives on in every life you have touched.

As UPND Media Team, we reaffirm the New Dawn Government's commitment to improving the welfare of teachers, enhancing working conditions and restoring dignity to the teaching profession, because we recognize that quality education is the foundation of the Grow Zambia agenda.

Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for shaping us all and for helping to build a better, prosperous Zambia.

Happy World Teachers' Day to all our Gallant Teachers!

President Hakainde Hichilema โ€™s Grow Zambia Agenda is a production-driven economic strategy aimed at moving Zambia beyond stabilisation and towards higher production, investment, job creation, exports and broad-based prosperity.

At its heart is a simple but ambitious economic code:

THE 10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1 TARGETS

TARGET| WHAT IT MEANS

๐ŸŒฝ 10 MILLION TONNES| Maize โ€” greater food production and food security
โšก 10,000 MW| Electricity โ€” the power needed to drive industry and investment
๐Ÿฆ“ 5 MILLION| Tourist arrivals โ€” a larger tourism and foreign-exchange economy
โ›๏ธ 3 MILLION TONNES| Copper โ€” expanding mineral production
๐Ÿซ˜ 3 MILLION TONNES| Soya beans โ€” stronger agriculture and agro-processing
๐ŸŒพ 1 MILLION TONNES| Wheat โ€” increased domestic production
๐Ÿฌ 1 MILLION TONNES| Sugar โ€” expanded agricultural and industrial output
๐Ÿฅฉ US$1 BILLION| Beef industry โ€” building a major livestock and export value chain

The importance of these targets is not simply the numbers themselves. It is what happens around them.

๐Ÿ“ŒMore electricity means more productive businesses can operate.

๐Ÿ“ŒMore maize, soya, wheat and sugar means more agricultural output, processing and opportunities for farmers.

๐Ÿ“ŒMore tourists means more spending in hotels, restaurants, transport, entertainment and local businesses.

๐Ÿ“ŒMore copper production means greater activity across mining, logistics, engineering and local supply chains.

A US$1 billion beef industry means an opportunity to transform livestock farming into a serious commercial and export sector.

In other words, the Grow Zambia Agenda is built around a fundamental proposition:

The economic strategy under President Hichilema has placed considerable emphasis on restoring macroeconomic stability and rebuilding investor confidence. But stability is not the destination.

Growth is.

The next challenge is therefore to translate economic stability into productive capacity โ€” more farms producing at scale, more mines operating efficiently, more factories processing Zambian raw materials, more tourists visiting Zambia and more reliable electricity powering the economy.

That is where the 10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1 framework becomes important.

It gives the country something that economic strategies often lack: a simple scoreboard for ambition.

Grow Zambia should ultimately be measured not only by whether Zambia reaches individual production targets, but by whether those targets generate tangible improvements in people's lives.

๐‘ป๐’‰๐’‚๐’• ๐’Ž๐’†๐’‚๐’๐’”:

More production โ†’ more investment โ†’ more jobs โ†’ more exports โ†’ more income โ†’ more wealth creation.

The strategy therefore calls for Government, the private sector, farmers, investors, entrepreneurs and citizens to work together.

โœ…Government must create the right policy environment and infrastructure.

โœ…The private sector must invest and expand.

โœ…Farmers must increase productivity.

โœ…Industries must add value.

Entrepreneurs must create businesses and jobs.

And Zambia must increasingly position itself as a country that produces for both domestic consumption and international markets.

The 10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1 code is ultimately more than a collection of economic targets.

It is a statement of ambition.

It says Zambia can produce more.

Zambia can export more.

Zambia can attract more investment.

Zambia can create more jobs.

And Zambia can build an economy in which its natural resources, agricultural potential, people and strategic location translate into greater prosperity.

The challenge is no longer simply to ask how Zambia can grow.

The challenge is to produce, invest, innovate and build at the scale required to make Zambia grow.

10 โ€” MAIZE

10,000 MW โ€” ELECTRICITY

5 MILLION โ€” TOURISTS

3 MILLION โ€” COPPER

3 MILLION โ€” SOYA BEANS

1 MILLION โ€” WHEAT

1 MILLION โ€” SUGAR

US$1 BILLION โ€” BEEF

10-10-5-3-3-1-1-1.
