Chililabombwe Municipal Council Liquor Licensing Committee Conducts Interviews

Chililabombwe, 6th May 2026

The Chililabombwe Municipal Council Liquor Licensing Committee, established in accordance with the Liquor Licensing Act No. 20 of 2011 to oversee the issuance of liquor licences, has today conducted interviews for applicants seeking to obtain and renew licences.

The interviews were held at the Chililabombwe Youth Vocational Training (CYVTC) Centre and were attended by all committee members, including civic leaders, representatives from the Zambia Police Service, Public Health, Fire Section, Legal Department, and members of the community.

The Liquor Licensing Committee plays an integral role in the process leading to the issuance of liquor licences to business premises. In executing its mandate, the committee carefully evaluates applications based on key parameters aimed at safeguarding the social well-being of the community.

Among the key considerations is the requirement that bars or drinking premises must be located at least 300 metres away from sensitive facilities such as health institutions, places of worship, and educational institutions. Additionally, business premises must not create public nuisance, among other conditions, all designed to ensure compliance with the Liquor Licensing Act.

Members of the public are therefore encouraged to apply for liquor licences and are advised to take note of the requirements, which include a K150 application fee and a K400 interview fee.
