OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY HON. COLLINS KAFWEMBE
I wish to distance myself from a social media post circulating with my image and name, concerning an appointment and containing statements which may give the impression that I have made or endorsed certain comments.
For the avoidance of doubt, I did not author, publish, or authorise the publication of the said post, and I do not associate myself with the statements or sentiments contained therein.
I remain a committed member of the United Party for National Development (UPND) and have great respect for the Party’s leadership, structures and established processes. I believe that matters relating to appointments and other Party affairs should be handled through the appropriate channels and communicated through the proper authorities.
As much as I appreciate and value the concerns expressed by people who support me, I kindly urge them not to issue statements or communicate on my behalf without my prior knowledge and consent. I fully appreciate that such actions may be undertaken in good faith and with the intention of supporting or defending me. However, it is important that any communication attributed to me or purporting to represent my position is made with my consent, in order to avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary confusion.
I therefore urge members of the public, Party members and my supporters to disregard the said post and refrain from attributing its contents to me.
My commitment to the UPND remains firm and unwavering. I will continue to respect the Party’s leadership, structures and processes, and will conduct myself in a manner that promotes unity, discipline and respect for the Party and its members.
