Let's just say my shoe choice wasn't ideal for the day, but I made it work!
We were working to spread awareness about SDG 2 (Sustainable Development Goal number 2) which is Zero Hunger at the Roma Parish Academy. It was a fantastic experience teaching and learning farming skills together. I had the pleasure of working alongside Ethan and Madalitso, planting beans, Kalembula (sweet potato leaves), and chibwabwa (pumpkin leaves). We were so busy we forgot to snap a photo.
I am passionate about creating a sustainable future through organic agriculture and smart waste management ♻️ and the Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Global Network ( CSAYGN) program helps be express this.

Organic fertilizers are made from natural materials like compost, manure, and plant-based waste. They offer several benefits over traditional, chemical-based fertilizers:
Better for the environment: Organic fertilizers improve soil structure, increase water retention, and support beneficial soil organisms.
Healthier plants: They promote healthier plant growth, leading to tastier and more nutritious produce.
No harmful chemicals: Organic fertilizers don't contain synthetic chemicals that can harm soil, water, and wildlife.
Long-lasting effects: They provide nutrients gradually, improving soil fertility over time.
Sustainable: Organic farming practices are often more sustainable and can help protect the environment.
While traditional fertilizers can provide quick nutrient boosts, they can also deplete soil nutrients, pollute water, and harm beneficial organisms.

Roughly 75% of the world’s food comes from just 12 plant and 5 animal species, and that staggering lack of diversity ripples against every aspect of food production. One way to support biodiversity is to choose organic farming practices which supports increased agricultural biodiversity. The ripple effect can start with you. 🫵.

It was an honor to be invited as guests by the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment - Zambia of the tentative programme for commemoration of World Environmental Day under the theme “Accelerating land, restoration for drought resilience in Zambia”🇿🇲.
We came as The University of Zambia -UNZA under the organization Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network Global (CSAYN) and it was a great learning and networking experience.
