Educational tour at ZMD🏫

The Zambia Meteorological Department (ZMD) under the ministry of Green Economy hosted a vital Stakeholder Engagement Meeting for the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF) project!
This initiative is a massive step forward in upgrading our weather and climate monitoring infrastructure to save lives and protect livelihoods.A huge thank you to our incredible partners and stakeholders who joined the dialogue and are helping drive this project forward.

🌡️ ZAMBIA SEASONAL TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK
🗓️July - September 2026
What to expect this season:
- July: The coldest month 🥶 Highest risk of cold stress + localized frost. Nights will be cool, especially in Ndola, Mkushi, Serenje, Mbala, Senga Hill, Pemba, Choma, Namwala, Mazabuka & Sesheke.
- Days: Warmer than normal across most of Zambia
- 🗓️August - September: Transition to warmer, drier & hotter conditions. Watch out for rapid soil moisture loss, increased fire danger & heat stress.
📌Plan for cold nights + warm afternoons now, then get ready for hot, dry weather from August.
Day-night temperature differences will be big: 13°C to 22°C in most areas.
