It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of one of our pupils Chewe Mwango (9NS), who tragically lost his life yesterday the 14th of January, 2025, after being stabbed in Kasama District. Let us keep the bereaved family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May His Soul Rest in Peace.
A 15 year old boy of New Town area in Kasama District has died in unclear circumstances after being stabbed by unknown people.
The deceased identified as CHEWE MWANGO, died on Tuesday 14th January around 10 hours in the morning.
The boysโ mother CLEOPATRA MOYO narrated to a MANO News crew that visited the funeral house that CHEWE was due to leave for boarding school in Chinsali before the accident happened.
Ms MOYO explains that prior to the incident, she and her late son left home to withdraw some money for his pocket money and upon their, she proceeded to the kitchen to cook while her son stepped out of the yard for a few minutes.
She adds that some minutes later, she heard her youngest daughter calling for help outside and upon rushing there, she found her son gasping for breath , and was bleeding from a deep wound on the left side of his chest.
Ms MOYO then immediately called for a taxi and rushed him to Kasama General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Northern Province Police Commissioner LUCKY MUNKONDYA has since confirmed the development.
Ms MUNKONDYA says police suspect an unidentified sharp object was used in the attack and investigations into the matter are underway .
She has appealed to the public for any information that could help in identifying those responsible for this act.
The body has since been transported to the Copperbelt for burial.
