This morning, the Office of the Chaplain General in the Ministry of Defence held a Devotion and Bible Distribution Service in the Ministerial Conference Room.

The Kabwata Baptist Church was graciously invited to participate in the special service.

The Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Mr. Maambo B. Haamaundu, was present, along with Generals, Directors, Senior Officers of the Ministry of Defence, and other distinguished guests.

Pastor Chipita Sibale of Kabwata Baptist Church conducted the devotion under the title: “Trusting God in Command.”

He highlighted three key lessons:

The Command to Trust Completely (v. 5a), The Warning Against Self-Reliance (v. 5b) and The Practice of Submission and the Promised Outcome (v. 6)

"It is encouraging to interact with the senior officers. Though they often appear stern and intimidating in uniform or on television, they have proved to be very warm and sociable in person. The Permanent Secretary, in particular, has displayed a wonderful sense of humour," said Pastor Sibale.

In his sermon, Pastor Sibale hoped that the word which has been delivered will bear fruits.

"We pray that the word shared this morning will take deep root in the hearts of the hearers and bear lasting fruit for the glory of God. We thank the Lord for this open door of opportunity to serve and proclaim His truth in such influential circles," he added.

AIR FORCE WARRANT OFFICER HONOURED AT US AIR UNIVERSITY

The Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has celebrated Air Force Warrant Officer Class One, Festus Mwelwa, on his induction into the prestigious 2026 International Honor Roll at the University States Air University in Alabama.

This remarkable achievement places WOI Mwelwa among a distinguished group of global military leaders recognised for their exceptional professionalism, leadership and commitment to service.

The International Honour Roll, established in 1985, honours alumni who have gone on to serve their nations with distinction, which in turn strengthens international military cooperation.

His recognition not only reflects personal excellence but also highlights the growing impact and professionalism of the ZAF on the global stage. It further underscores the critical role enlisted leaders play in fostering strong international partnerships and advancing collective security.

And the Zambia Air Force Commander, Lt Gen Oscar Msitu Nyoni, has congratulated WOI Mwelwa on this milestone and stated that the honour is a testament to his dedication, discipline and exemplary service to the Country.

He noted that the recognition brings pride not only to the Zambia Air Force but to the nation as a whole and serves as an inspiration to other Service personnel.

ZAF commends WOI Mwelwa for this outstanding accomplishment and for flying the nation’s flag high.
