HON. ALEXANDER SAKALA ATTENDS SAMU LYA MOOMBA FUNDRAISING DINNER

Matero Member of Parliament Hon. Alexander Mumba Sakala on Saturday attended the Samu Lya Moomba Fundraising Dinner held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, ahead of the Samu Lya Moomba Traditional Ceremony scheduled for next week.

The dinner brought together invited guests and various stakeholders in support of preparations for the forthcoming traditional ceremony.

Hon. Sakala was among those who attended the fundraising dinner, which provided an opportunity for guests to come together in support of the cultural event.

The Samu Lya Moomba Traditional Ceremony is expected to bring together traditional leaders, communities and other stakeholders to celebrate and preserve cultural heritage and traditions.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States should start calling artificial intelligence “super intelligence” instead.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22, 2026, Trump said the word “artificial” makes intelligence sound fake.

“It makes it sound fake, and it is not fake,” Trump said, calling the technology “amazing.”

Trump said “super intelligence” would be used in U.S. government documents and said he hoped other countries would eventually use the term as well.

Trump also criticized efforts to create broad international rules for AI. He described some concerns about AI safety as a “hoax” and said the United States should not stifle the technology’s growth.

He also said the U.S. is currently ahead of China in AI “by a lot” and argued that the country leading in what he called “super intelligence” would have a significant advantage.

The remarks were part of Trump’s 37-minute address to the U.N. General Assembly.

FORMER NABOYE PUPIL NOMINATED AS MP

Former Naboye pupil and immediate past Lusaka Deputy Mayor, Ketty Nanyangwe, has been nominated as a Member of Parliament under the Proportional Representation system.

Nanyangwe, who previously served as Lusaka Deputy Mayor, now joins the National Assembly through the nominated seats.

I CAN OPEN A BANK AND BE MY ONLY CUSTOMER - CHARLES CHANDA

United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) president and UPND Alliance partner Charles John Chanda says he is wealthy enough to open and sustain his own bank in Zambia as its sole customer.

In an interview with Alfred Chimba on Crown TV-Spotlight program, Chanda claimed his money, all made in Zambia, is so substantial that he would not need depositors to keep a bank running.

“I can open a bank, my own bank, and run it. I’m the only customer, it can still be sustained,” Chanda said.

“I’m getting interest and loans from my own bank and I’m every day depositing. Only one client, it can happen.”

Chanda, who insists he is the only Zambian politician without an offshore account anywhere in the world, said all his wealth was made locally and his money is clean.

The UPPZ leader also claimed a named bank that was recently closed would have survived had its owners sold it to him.

“Even the bank that closed, I even told the owner, if they sold me that bank it was not going to be closed,” he said.
