KABWE DISTRICT SEES ECONOMIC REVIVAL UNDER PRESIDENT HICHILEMA'S LEADERSHIP
Kabwe District is witnessing a transformative phase, as District Commissioner Mr Lennox Shimwambwa Jr. reveals that the area is shedding its image as a "ghost town." The revitalization is largely attributed to the economic policies under President Hakainde Hichilema's leadership, which have fostered the establishment of multiple new industries over the past four years.
Speaking when he and other stakeholders toured Mulungushi Textiles to check on the progress made so far towards the reopening of the defunct industry, Mr Shimwambwa highlighted the positive impact of key players in the local economy, including Bayer Seed Zambia Limited Company, Great Leaf To***co Processing Company, and the International Drug Company.
He said the industries are not only contributing to economic growth but are also creating job opportunities and improving local community services.
Bayer Seed Zambia, recognized as one of the largest seed processing companies in Central and Southern Africa, currently operates at 60% of its capacity of 80,000 metric tons of production. The company facilitates the export of seed maize to markets in Tanzania, Burundi, Angola and beyond. Furthermore, Bayer's commitment to corporate social responsibility includes plans to construct a level one hospital in Munga ward, which will enhance healthcare services in Kabwe.
The Great Leaf To***co processing plant is also set to be recommissioned with a production capacity of 8 tons of to***co per hour, already employing over 800 people. This development will open new avenues for local farmers to cultivate and market to***co effectively.
In addition, the International Drug Company is poised to strengthen the job market with three facilities: a capsule processing plant that will employ 250 people, an IV fluid plant, and a general medicine plant currently in development, projected to create over 300 direct jobs.
Kabwe residents are also benefiting from infrastructural improvements, such as the newly completed intercity bus station in Lukanga, which has streamlined local transportation logistics. Additionally, the community will soon see the first fully funded level one District Hospital in the Mpima area, which aims to provide essential health services.
"Government Support continues through the Community Development Fund, which allocates K8 million for loans and K6 million for grants annually across two constituencies, empowering residents to engage in various economic activities," he said.
"With these developments, Kabwe is embracing a brighter economic future, invigorated by private sector partnerships and outgrower opportunities. The District Commissioner emphasized that Kabwe is indeed on the move, set for continued growth and revitalization.".G

PRESIDENT HICHILEMA'S PARLEY SPEECH SPOT ON
----------------------------------------------------
President Hakainde Hichilema's address to Parliament recently on the Progress Made in the Application of National Values and Principles, was indeed spot on as he outlined the many positive economic strides and achievements scored by his government in the past four years he has been in power.
We commend him particularly for his demonstration of true servant leadership by being open and acknowledging the challenges the country is currently grappling with such as the energy deficit in the country, resulting in load shedding which is of great concern to everyone.
We are however comforted by the President's assurances to the Zambian people that his New Dawn Administration is doing everything possible to ameriorate the load shedding hardships through diverse energy mix of solar and other renewable energy sources.
Without any doubt, Zambia is indeed a haven of peace with citizens expressing themselves freely anywhere and everywhere signifying deepening and expanding democratic space in the country.
More so, we are in total agreement with the Republican President's clarion call for national unity across the political spectrum regardless of political or religious affiliation, as we are all Zambians desiring the very best for the country, despite belonging to different political parties and religious groupings.
It's for these reasons, we call upon the honorable Members of Parliament to take off their political lenses inorder to debate the President's speech objectively as a way of providing credible checks and balances to government.
