Mluazi Urges Facilitators to Champion Accurate Voter Education

Monze, Zambia — Monze District Electoral Officer, (DEO) Mr. Robert Mluazi, has urged Voter Education Facilitators (VEFs) to be steadfast carriers of accurate information as Zambia prepares for the 2026 General Elections.

Speaking at the official closing of a Five-day training workshop, Mr. Mluazi stressed that elections are a serious national undertaking that demands precision and truth in public communication.

He emphasized that the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is relying on facilitators to ensure communities receive correct and timely information about the voting process.

> “The elections are a serious undertaking which require accurate information. The Commission is depending on you to ensure that society gets the correct information,” Mr. Mluazi said.

He further reminded the facilitators of their critical role in mobilizing citizens to turn out in large numbers on polling day.

Monze District, which comprises four constituencies with the latest addition being Monze East Constituency born during the delimitation exercise and 25 wards, trained a total of 52 VEFs alongside one peer educator from the Zambia Correctional Services. Out of these, 50 facilitators will be deployed across the 25 wards, while two will remain on standby to respond to unforeseen eventualities.

The training workshop, organized under the auspices of the ECZ, aimed to equip facilitators with the skills and knowledge necessary to guide communities through the electoral process.

Mr. Mluazi’s remarks underscored the importance of integrity and responsibility in voter education, highlighting that misinformation could undermine public confidence in the electoral system.

Zambia is scheduled to hold its General Elections on 13th August 2026, a pivotal moment in the country’s democratic calendar.

As the countdown continues, the ECZ has reiterated its commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, with voter education standing as a cornerstone of that mission
