WORKERS ARE A BACKBONE OF THE COUNTRY’S ECONOMY

Nyimba District Commissioner Mr. Paul Daka has described workers in the district as the backbone of Zambia’s economy.

Speaking today during the Labour Day celebration in Nyimba District, Mr. Paul Daka has described the workers as the drivers of Zambia’s economy.

Mr. Daka added that, government has been able to achieve its agenda of improving the country’s economy through the workers.

The District Commissioner, has appealed to Eastern Water and Sanitation to hasten the process of working on the water crisis in the district noting that other house holds have had no supply of water for over two years.

Speaking at the same event, Zambia Congress of Trade Union (ZCTU) representative in Nyimba District, has appealed to Government to consider the construction of roads in order to easy the cost of doing business in the district.

The ZCTU representative further urged government to consider retirees accessing a lump some of their benefits when they retire.

This year's Labour Day was being celebrated under the theme "Securing Zambia's Future of work: protecting jobs, skills and pensions for decent work for all."
