people of petauke let's stop using military regalia to avoid being a culprit
PRESS STATEMENT
(Lusaka……23 February, 2026)
REMINDER AGAINST UNLAWFUL USE OF MILITARY REGALIA
The Zambia Army wishes to reiterate its earlier warning to the general public against the use, wearing, possession, procuring, importation, or manufacturing of military regalia, or any semblance thereof.
Despite the joint warning previously issued by the Inspector General of Police Mr Graphael Musamba on 20 December 2024, it has been observed with concern that some individuals have continued to trade in and wear military attire with wanton impunity. The public is hereby reminded that such conduct constitutes a violation of Section 6 (a) of the State Security Act, Chapter 111 of the Laws of Zambia.
We therefore wish to warn the public that the Military Police have been given strict instructions to confiscate any military regalia or semblance thereof from trading places, and apprehend any person found contravening this law.
The Zambia Army emphasises that military regalia is strictly reserved for serving members of the Defence Force of Zambia.
Any unauthorised use undermines national security and the dignity of the uniform. The public is therefore strongly advised to desist from this practice forthwith.
