The Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba has commissioned a batch of motor cycles for urban centres policing, rural patrol and traffic enforcement throughout the country. The all purpose terrain motor cycles will be allocated to police stations for effective management of scene attendance, crime management, general and specific patrols and tackling reckless driving conduct on the roads. The ZRP implores Zimbabweans to cooperate with Police officers performing duties while riding the motor cycles.

The ZRP confirms the arrest of Mary Jena (26) and Justice Kanopula (30) in connection with the unlawful manufacture and distribution of unregistered cough syrups in Harare. On 30/05/2026, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, acted on received information and recovered substances and equipment used in the illicit manufacture of cough syrups at a house in Tynwald, Harare. The suspects allegedly manufactured the cough syrups using ingredients sourced locally and imported cough syrups smuggled from neighbouring countries before distributing the products to drug dealers.

The ZRP confirms the arrest of Gordon Nkowu (58), Nkosiyabo Moyo (57), Shepherd Nkomo (43), Beven Sibanda (40), and Isaiah Moyo (31). The five suspects were intercepted along Bulawayo–Solusi Road in Bulawayo while driving a Toyota Hilux Single Cab, registration number DN08VG-GP, towing a trailer with registration number KW27Y2-GP, which was laden with 360 kg of loose dagga valued at ZIG 10,800,000.00. The dagga was smuggled from South Africa via Botswanainto Zimbabwe.

The Officer Commanding Matabeleland South Province, Commissioner Phiri, conducted a crime awareness campaign at Dubane Turn-Off, Colleen Bawn, attended by approximately 450 farmers, miners and workers. The campaign focused on strengthening police-community partnerships in the fight against crimes of violence, carrying of dangerous weapons in public places, domestic violence, and compliance with mining regulations, among other issues. Also in attendance were representatives from Women in Mining, the Business Against Crime Forum of Zimbabwe, Crime Liaison Committees and CCPN members. The ZRP continues to encourage community participation in crime prevention and the promotion of safe and peaceful communities.

Similarly, ZRP Chivhu District also reinvigorated the Client Service Charter designed to strengthen police-community relations and improve responsiveness to public concerns and complaints.
Reference is made to the ZRP’s message on X platform regarding a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 27/05/26 at 0500 hours at the 110 km peg along Gokwe -Kwekwe Road towards Kwekwe. The death toll has risen to 10.
The ZRP confirms the arrest of the CEO of Hardrock FC, Kudzanai Hove (44), in connection with the violence at Chahwanda Stadium on 24/05/26. More information will be released in due course.
