This Barn Owl didn’t die naturally.
Sadly, it died after eating a rat that had consumed rat poison. This is called secondary poisoning, and it’s one of the biggest threats to owls and other wildlife.
Owls are incredible natural pest controllers. A single owl can eat hundreds of rodents in a year, helping farmers and ecosystems without the need for toxic chemicals.
When poison is used, it doesn’t just kill rats — it kills the wildlife that depends on them.
Please consider wildlife-friendly alternatives.
