It’s been a busy month for the team across the British Embassy in UAE.
We bade farewell to our Ambassador, Edward Hobart CMG, whose three posting came to an end.
UK Ministers from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office; Ministry of Defence; Department of Business & Trade and Home Office hosted their Emirati counterparts at a series of meetings in London.
And the long awaited Free Trade Agreement with the GCC was agreed.
The UK-UAE partnership remains as strong as ever. 🇬🇧🇦🇪

On his final day in office as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, the British Embassy is delighted to share the news that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has conferred the First Class Order of Independence on
The medal was presented to the ambassador by the UAE’s top diplomat, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, at a meeting in Abu Dhabi. It was awarded in recognition for his dedicated efforts to strengthen strategic relations between the UAE and UK.
We thank Ambassador Hobart for his dedicated service to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office over many years, concluding in a successful final posting to the UAE where he oversaw the recent bilateral cooperation framework agreement between our two nations and last week the Free Trade agreement with the GCC.
Everyone at the British Embassy wishes Edward the very best in his future career outside the diplomatic service.
