The Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai will be closed from Monday, May 25 to Thursday, May 28, 2026, due to Eid Al Adha.

H.E. Abdulla Balalaa, UAE's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability, concluded an official visit to the Netherlands to advance UAE–Netherlands cooperation in trade, energy, water, and climate resilience, and to strengthen partnerships ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi. The visit also saw the signing of an MoU between Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, to boost collaboration in water diplomacy and capacity building.

On 05 May, the Netherlands Celebrates Liberation Day, to honor the return of its freedom after the Second World War.

In many places in the world, war is still going on. Freedom is never a given. It takes a great deal of hard work and collaboration to safeguard our democracy. In this way, the Netherlands will continue to be the free and tolerant country which is today.

We therefore do not celebrate freedom alone, but together. Because freedom is something you share.

Today is Remembrance Day.

Each year on 04 May, the Netherlands honors the Dutch victims of the Second World War as well as all who have been killed in any other war situation since then.

Marking the 81 years that have passed since the end of the Second World War, today, we reflect and thank our liberators for their courage and the sacrifices they have made, which has paved the way for the freedom we cherish today.

As part of Remembrance Day on 4 May, the Netherlands observes a moment of silence to commemorate and remember. Everyone is free to commemorate in the way they feel fit.
