Today, the Ambassador of Malta had the privilege of visiting the UAE 🇦🇪 Invitational Games and bidding farewell to the remarkable team at the UAE Special Olympics Committee, with whom the Embassy of Malta has enjoyed a close and rewarding partnership.
The participation of the 🇲🇹
Special Olympics Team, represented by 3 leaders and 4 athletes, is a testament to the power of sport to inspire, unite and empower.
What stands out most in the UAE is the profound respect shown towards People of Determination—not as individuals defined by limitations, but as people of talent, ambition and limitless potential. Their achievements remind us that inclusion is not charity; it is recognising the dignity, ability and value inherent in every human being.
Thank you to the UAE for championing a vision of society where everyone is given the opportunity to thrive. And a Big Well Done to Malta for teaming up with the UAE for the past 5 years in this endeavour.

Today, the Ambassador of Malta, Maria Camilleri Calleja, had the privilege of paying a farewell call on a dear friend and mentor, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arab Emirates, at his Majlis in Abu Dhabi.
Over the past six years, Sheikh Nahyan has been a constant source of wisdom, encouragement, and inspiration. His unwavering commitment to tolerance, coexistence, education, culture, and human dignity has touched countless lives and helped shape the UAE into a global model of openness and mutual respect.
What always stood out was his genuine interest in Malta and his sincere appreciation for the friendship between our two countries. He consistently welcomed opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties and showed a remarkable curiosity about Malta’s people, culture, history, and aspirations. His warmth towards Malta was always deeply felt and greatly valued.
He also never missed an opportunity to support the Embassy of Malta and its initiatives. Whether through his presence at our events, his encouragement of cultural and educational exchanges, or his readiness to lend support whenever needed, he was always a steadfast Friend of Malta. His generosity of spirit and accessibility reflected a leadership style grounded in genuine human connection and mutual respect.
The Ambassador reflected that she is profoundly grateful for his friendship, guidance, and support; and lessons learnt from him—about leadership, generosity, humility, and service— which he shared with the diplomatic community.
Thank you, Your Highness, for your friendship, your support of Malta, and your belief in the power of bringing people together across cultures, faiths, and nations. Your example is an inspiration.
