elop social sports, increase the number of those who practice physical activities and popularize the sports culture among all segments of society, the Dubai Sports Council has launched Dubai Physical Activity Program "Dubai Pulse" in 2009. The Council has initiated site studies to survey the actual situation for the practice of physical activities in society and to assess the level of social awareness with the importance of sports & physical activity. Moreover, it resorted to official studies & statistics to prove that those who do not practice sports activities are more likely to be exposed to healthy problems. DSC has launched Dubai Pulse Program to:
• Popularize & boost the practice of physical activities among various segments of society.
• Reduce diseases of fatness, blood pressure & diabetics.
• Increase physical & intellectual abilities of participants.
• Emplace Dubai top on the world map as one of the cities which host international great sports events & physical activities. Program's Activities:
The Pulse Program includes several main activities; these are: Dubai Swims / Dubai Walks/ Dubai Cycles / Al-Aweer Walking Day. The Program will also allocate a day for the practice of physical activities in Hatta. Out-door accompanying programs that include several physical activities such as biking & athletic games are to be organized, along with in-door accompanying programs which will take place at Mall of the Emirates & Oasis Center. The DSC utilizes public parks, open beaches and other sports facilities to organize Dubai Pulse Program including: running, walking, cycling …etc. In this respect the Council coordinates with several governmental parties to encourage the practice of these activities; top of these parties are: Dubai Municipality / RTA / Dubai Police / Knowledge & Human Development Authority /Community Development Authority / Dubai Ambulance Services Center / Tourism & Commercial Development Department / Dubai Health Authority.
