Job Descriptions:
Engineer entails knowing about the many types of plant care and how each grows. His task is to care for the tree's general health and growth. Monitoring shrubs and trees for insect infestations and disease are part of the Horticultural Engineer work, as is deciding on treatments to eliminate these problems. Finding the best methods for pruning and fertilizing trees are also part of the arborist's daily work. Handling the chemicals used for tree and shrub care safely so neither people nor the environment is harmed is another task. He/she should have good knowledge of Biology and plant physiology; pathogens; organic cropping techniques, practices, and materials; terminology, uses, operation and maintenance of tools, parts and equipment used in horticulture, farming, and agriculture; chemical control of weeds, plant and crop diseases, and insect pests; irrigation and propagation methods.

PREFERRED SKILLS1. Excellent plant identification skills required.2. Knowledge of irrigation systems maintenance preferred.3. Experience with integrated pest management.4. Familiarity with soil analysis.5. Experience organizing projects and groups of people.6. Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with staff, board members, contractors and clients.8. Flexible to work weekends, some holidays.9. Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Excellent observation skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS* Engineer degree Horticulture/agriculture* Experience in date palm cropping is desirable* At least one year relevant experience* Experience in conducting fieldwork
* A Master's degree in organic agriculture is a plus. * A Master degree can be substituted by an experience in organic agriculture.* Good computer skills.
