Consul General Meets with MIE Group Leadership

The Consul General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, H.E. Mr. Zerihun Megersa, held a productive meeting with Mr. David Wang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MIE Groups, to explore opportunities for advancing investment promotion and strengthening business linkages between Ethiopia and the international investment community.

During the meeting, H.E. Mr. Zerihun highlighted Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms, expanding investment opportunities, and the Government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a competitive, transparent, and investor-friendly business environment.

Mr. David Wang briefed the Consul General on MIE Groups’ ongoing engagement and efforts in Ethiopia’s emerging electric mobility sector. He shared insights into MIE Groups’ experience in organizing international trade exhibitions, investment forums, and business networking platforms that connect global investors with high-growth markets.

The meeting also explored MIE Groups proposed “EV Ethiopia 2027 – Ethiopia–GCC Mobility and Investment Cooperation” Initiative which envisioned to position Ethiopia as East Africa’s leading center for electric mobility, sustainable transportation, and green investment while fostering stronger economic and technological partnerships between Ethiopia and the GCC.

Concluding the meeting, the Consul General expressed the Consulate’s readiness to facilitate engagement with relevant stakeholders and support initiatives that contribute to Ethiopia’s economic transformation, industrial modernization, and sustainable development objectives.

The Consul General warmly received H.E. Engineer Latifa Bint Eissa, Specialist in the Art of Parallel Diplomacy for UAE Culture & Soft Power, who graced the cultural event of Ethiopian community in celebration of the 8 years journey of Ethiopia under the leadership of H.E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, a true brother of His Highness President Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the event, the Consul General handed over award to H.E. Engineer Latifa Bint Eissa, that symbolizes the long journey of relationships between Ethiopia 🇪🇹 and the 🇦🇪.

They also exchanged views on ways to work together to further strengthen the people-to-people cultural ties between the two countries.

Ethiopia, Azerbaijan discusses over sharing experience of hosting COP

The Consul General of the Federal Democratic Republic of in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, H.E. Mr. Zerihun Megersa, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Kamran Mammadzada, Consul General of the Republic of in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, at the Azerbaijani Consulate in Dubai.

The two Consuls General held productive discussions aimed at further strengthening the longstanding friendship and expanding cooperation between Ethiopia and Azerbaijan. During the meeting, H.E. Mr. Zerihun recalled the landmark official visit of H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed to Baku in February 2026, during which he held high-level talks with H.E. President Ilham Aliyev to elevate the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He noted that the visit culminated in the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding covering agriculture, digital identification systems, and public sector modernization. He further highlighted the MESOB service delivery platform shared from the experience of Azerbaijan’s ASAN Service system.
In light of this he briefed his counterpart on the successful implementation of MESOB service centers in Addis Ababa and regional states as part of Ethiopia’s ongoing public service reform efforts.

H.E. Mr. Kamran Mammadzada expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations with Ethiopia.
Upon the request of H.E. Mr. Zerihun Megersa, the Consul General also shared valuable insights from Azerbaijan’s successful presidency of , for the purpose of Ethiopia’s preparations to host COP32.
Highlighting the country's experiences of hosting the COP29, the Consul Generals exchanges views regarding advancing global climate action, sustainable development, and international cooperation.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation between the two Consulates and exploring new opportunities for partnership in areas of mutual interest.
