Dear friends, with support from a few of friends and family, we are happy to inform you that yesterday, Friday Apri 12, we were able to assist more than 100 working and under resourced children with school supplies and uniforms. We are grateful that we have been able to sustain our support for the past three years now to enable these children to continue their education. A complete list of the children will be posted soon.

Dear Friends

We are happy to inform you that on Friday, 13 April, 2018, Be The Change Organization succesfully distributed school supplies and school uniforms to 101 working children, who we have been helping stay in school since March 2017. We are proud of the accomplishments of our children, who have done well despite the challenges of having to work on the side. Seven of our girls secured top positions in the final exams of last year, and two earned a double promotion by passing tests that enabled them to jump a year at school.

We thank all our friends and donors, whose contributions, both big and small have helped us to ensure these children can continue to go to school this year. You have given children the gift of an education and perhaps, the chance of a better future.

We will be posting a list of the children, and a revised list of our individual donors in the next few days. MEanwhile, enjoy the photographs of the distribution.

Wish you a very Happy New Year.

I am a student of MA Creative Writing at Brunel University London, and have just finished my second taught term there. I intend to complete my course work for this term and my dissertation from home in Kabul. My experience as a mature student has given me an idea that I believe is very relevant in our context in Afghanistan, and I intend to make it my project for the rest of my life in Afghanistan. I call It:
"My Voice My Story -- A History of Afghanistan Told by The People Who Live it."

While pursuing a module called Writers at Work, I was struck by the need to initiate a community writing initiative in Afghanistan, and to compile an archives of personal live histories of people of different ages, sexes, and backgrounds, who have lived during the nearly four decades of conflict and before. I believe it is important to record their lives and experiences both to celebrate the value of their resilience and struggles, to track the cultural and demographic changes and adaptations, and to preserve a community narrative of the impacts of the war on people. I believe these will generate a valuable knowledge reserve for historians and researchers of a future time beyond the war.

Encouraging people to write is a powerful tool for promoting education and peace, and for reaffirming life and preserving culture and memories, in a country, where so many people believe there is no hope.

I have a small NGO registered as Be The Change Organization in Afghanistan, which promotes education and empowerment of women and children primarily, and I plan to use this organization to plant my plan in.

I am eager to begin working on this as soon as I can, and am looking for partners and contributors among individuals, and governmental and non-governmental agencies.

BE THE CHANGE ORGANIZATION DISTRIBUTES
SCHOOLS SUPPLIES FOR
SECOND TERM OF SCHOOL YEAR

Dear Friends and Supporters of Be The Change Organization, Asalaaam Walaikum. We hope you had a peaceful and happy Eid ul Adha.

We are pleased to inform you that with your continued support and encouragement, on August 22, 2017, we distributed school supplies, this time to 96 working children - 50 girls and 46 boys in grades 1 through 9, who were integrated into various public schools at the beginning of the academic year.

All the children made reasonable academic progress during the first half of the school year, though it was somewhat more difficult for the boys, who work longer hours outside of school time, and hence get less time to focus on studies. English Pushto and Math are the more difficult subjects for many students, and we are thinking of ways in which they can be supported to do better in these subjects.

We are proud of the efforts of all our children, and congratulate them on persisting in pursuing education in spite of all odds. We believe even their failures will prove to be stepping stones to success.

We hope many more friends will join us so that we can continue to help these and other children like them to remain in school next year.

A list of the children who received school supplies in the second round of distributions is posted also.
