202nd Zone Afghan Uniform Police PAT Police Advisor Team

On 29 November 2018, LTC Barnett participated in a walk to advise Shura at the 202nd Zone HQ. The Shura was chaired by COL Yar Mohammad (Zaheer), the 202nd Zone Administrative Deputy. Additional Afghan counterparts included COL Mohammad Tahir: Zone G5, COL Shamsull-Islam: Zone G2, LTC Nadir Khan: Zone Procurement Lead, MAJ Zalmay: Zone G6, and Mr Sami Ul Haw: Zone Lead Finance SME.
U.S. Police Advisory Team participants included CPT “Tre” Clements, Mr. Efrain Dejesus, and MAJ Thomasz Soszynski.

The ANP have saved hundreds of lives! On 18 August 2018, the Nangarhar PHQ Counter-Terrorist Office discovered a plot to emplace and detonate a VBIED (Vehicle born improvised explosive device) in Jalalabad City during Eid Al Udha. Fortunately the ANP discovered and destroyed the VBIED, preventing this potentially catastrophic attack.

Nangarhar Police Prevent Large Scale Attack!

At approximately 1600 today, Nangarhar Police discovered a white Toyota Corolla that was being prepared to be used as a VBIED (Vehicle born improvised explosive device). Fortunately, police identified the su***de bombers before they were able to carry out the attack on the Regional Training Center (RTC). Great work by the Nangarhar Police!

On 30 July, 2018 at approximately 1830, A tribal elder and Afghan Parliamentary candidate, Haji Hayat Khan, was the target of a suicde bombing. The attack took place in the Rodat District of Nangarhar Province and claimed four victims. The attacker used a vehicle improvised explosive device for the attack. Haji Hayat Khan and his two nephews were killed and his son sustained minor injuries.

شهيد حاجي حيات خان هغه ستره هستي وه، چې په ميړانې سره يې ولسونه منسجم کړل او امنيتي ځواکونو سره يو ځای يې اوږه په اوږه د وسله والو مخالفينو مقابله وکړه او په کوټ ولسوالۍ کې يې د هغوی جرړې وويستې.

ANDSF pillars from across Nangarhar came together at the Nangarhar OCC-P (Operational Coordination Center-Provincial) in order to conduct initial planning for Parliamentary Election Security in the Province.

Based on a prior report, Nangarhar Police conducted a search in the Landi Village (Nazyan District). Police seized 23KG of o***m. A Mr. Zahir was arrrested in connection to this seizure. An investigation is still underway.

On Sunday, the 22nd of July, the 202nd Zone Afghan Uniform Police Headquarters hosted a procurement seminar focused on the modification and improvement of the region's security infrastructure. With the Afghanistan Parliamentary elections on the horizon, Police leadership are dedicated to doing everything in their power to ensure a safe and successful voting season.

Nangarhar PHQ personnel arrested a member of ISIS named Shahidullah. He has been charged with the attempted recruitment of people from the 2nd District of Jalalabad City. Additionally, Police discovered two boxes of home made explosive materials along the Surkh Road in the Khugyani District. The contents were safely and successfully secured; no personelle were injured and the explosives were detonated in a controlled manner. Lastly, Laghman Province PHQ personnel arrested five individuals who were harrassing people with a pistol.
