FOB Walton

FOB Walton was a secure Forward Operating Base in the Kandahar Region of Afghanistan, near the city o FOB Walton had many amenities on site.

A US Army FOB outside of Kandahar City, Afghanistan; located outside the suburb of Azizullah. Summertime climate can bring temperatures up to and above 120 degrees Fahrenheit, while winter time can drop down into the low 20s. Our dining facility was often times the envy of the area. The quality of the food and service was fantastic. Many people came from other FOBs intentionally to visit the dinin

g facility. Friday nights were surf and turf, often times offering lobster or crab legs. The City Center offered a selection of shopping, from the AAFES Shoppette to several local national shoppes including Nazir's Wal-Mart. Green Bean's Coffee gave some refreshment after a tough day. There was even a local national restaurant on site if your soldier wished to delve into some Afghan food. There was much to offer here on such a small outpost. There were so many nationalities on the FOB that support the fight against evil. Everyone did their part to make FOB Walton great! FOB Walton is now all but a memory. This site is dedicated to the men and women from all nationalities that supported operations on the FOB. This is a place to catch up with old friends, share fond memories and moments from 'over there.'

This page was created in 2011 by a single soldier who, having arrived at FOB Walton, had no idea what he was headed to. Jake wanted to provide the next soldiers a place to go to see where they were headed and basic logistical information about their combat destination. This page will remain open forever as a memorial to FOB Walton

Remember, today in 1944; Sons, brothers, and fathers stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. It was the beginning of the end for the Axis arm. A great loss of life to have our freedoms today.
Australia, Canada, Belgium, France, Czechoslovakia, Greece, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the United Kingdom, and the United States were all involved in the beach invasion.

I am considering whether to unpublish the page for a period of time in an effort to protect, from the Talib, those who have commented, posted photos, or have otherwise been named.

It is shocking and grievous what is happening in Afghanistan right now. So many things could be said about the political core of this, but that would divide us all unnecessarily.

What we currently see is the Talib taking over, and that's all the electronic windows to the world are showing. What we don't see behind the scenes is the funding, support, and infrastructure that someone, somewhere has been lining up far in advance. This is not a finished moment, it is the beginning of a movement. Those puppeteers are yet to be seen, and I expect they will be hard to find in today's media spectrum (where often Aljazeera is more credible than US news).

We must be constantly vigilant. Protecting life and liberty is of utmost importance.
