On March 11th the First Meeting of the First Session of the Thirteenth House of Assembly was held. Our Youth Parliamentarians remain steadfast, seeking to learn from and work with all members of this new House of Assembly.

From October 4th - 7th 2023 Hon. Ethan Harrigan and Hon. Alysha Carty of the Anguilla Youth Parliament attended the inaugural session of the ECCU Youth Parliament, the 2023 ECCB Youth Symposium and supporting events.

The events began on the 4th with a welcome cocktail where all participants were given the opportunity to network with thesmelves, delegates from the ECCB and delegates from the .nyac x Joint Overseas Committee.

The Symposium took place on the 5th where our parliamentarians attended 3 presentations from specialits within the White (digital) and Orange (creative) economies.
They engaged in an question & answer session after the presentations.

On the 6th, the youth parliamentarians gave their presentations approaching the resolution of the ECCU Youth Parliament calling for urgent action to quell youth related violence in the eastern Caribbean.

They were also treated to a St. Kitts island tour and dinner in Nevis. They returned to Anguilla on the 7th.

Our youth parliamentarians were eble to exercise and improve their debating skills and make valuable connections at this initiative hosted by the ECCB.

As Youth week is approaching an end two of our members visited the governor’s office for the round table discussion.

The Governor and Deputy Governor along with other youth group representatives including the Anguilla Youth Parliament sat together to discuss pressing topics facing Anguilla’s society.

The Governor and Deputy Governor made sure to ensure that all suggestions made would me taking into consideration.

Yesterday the Anguilla Youth Parliament along with the Minimum Wage committee gathered at the House of Assembly to have a committee inquiry.

The topic for this discussion was “The social and economic impact of the recommended minimum wage on Anguilla’s society “

This committee Inquiry will aid the Youth Parliament in preparing a report needed for our upcoming debate on the now pressing topic of Minimum Wage.

Today marks the last day of the 16th National Conference on Youth and development.

The theme for this event “Securing our future: Co-creating a financially resilient Anguilla”

The conference was well attended by various youth groups from across the island, such as:
•The Anguilla Youth Parliament
•The Anguilla National Youth Ambassador Corps
•The Anguilla Youth Council
•Students of the A.L.H.C.S

Throughout the 2 day conference there were many presentations made by various financial institutions that operate in Anguilla.The presenters shared useful information on how to create a sustainable financial future for yourself.
