Josianne Fleming-Artsen has a well-rounded educational background. She has lived most of her life on St. Maarten, and studied in St. Maarten, the Netherlands, and the Americas. She holds a Teacher’s Diploma from the Teacher Education College in Amersfoort, a B.A. in the English Language, and is a graduate of Columbia University where she earned a Master degree in Curriculum Development and a secon
d Masters in Educational Leadership. Josianne is a life -long learner. Josianne has worked across the spectrum of education as a teacher, principal, superintendent of schools, Chairperson of school boards, trainer, policy writer, immediate Past President of the University of St. Martin, a business consultant, and Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary in the Hague. Combined, Josianne has served her country tirelessly in various capacities with a specialization, in Education, Politics, Social Services and Business. Her greatest joy in education is working as a change agent and educational leader where she can innovate and motivate others in the educational change process and take institutions to higher heights. Josianne is a Rotarian, and enjoys service above self. She believes in providing humanitarian service to others. In addition, she heads the Helping Hands Foundation as its president and enjoys ensuring that the elderly are well taken care of. Josianne received distinguished awards such as the Ghandi-King-Ikeda PEACE Award from Morehouse College in the USA and was decorated by the Queen of the Netherlands for her outstanding achievements. Josianne has raised nine (9) children, of which one (1) is her birth child. Josianne speaks French, Spanish, Dutch, and English fluently. Leaders for a Brighter Future Foundation
Goal: To facilitate young professionals to gain positions of leadership in our businesses, communities and/or political office. The Leaders for Brighter Future Foundation was established by Josianne ARTSEN-Fleming to develop global leaders with a local focus on Country St. This would be done by the establishment of leadership focused development programs that includes organizing and attending local and international leadership workshops and conferences. The main purpose of the Leaders for a Brighter Future Foundation is to support leaders in our communities, businesses, as well as those with political aspirations running for an elected office.
