Talofa. Please see the attached public notice regarding our office relocation and public access to the Office of the Public Defender.
The Office of the Public Defender extends its sincere appreciation to the Chief Justice, Associate Justices, and Judges for their consideration and assistance in providing this new space.
We also thank:
- the Governor's Office for assisting with the many logistics involved in this relocation.
- Department of Administrative Services for helping coordinate and carry out the move.
- Department of Public Works for assisting with the minor work and cleanup needed at the new location
- ASTCA for working late into the evening to ensure our phone and internet services were restored.
Although this transition came with many obstacles and hindrances, we are here, settled in, and fully operational because of the involvement, participation, and support of all those who helped along the way.
Fa'afetai tele lava.

Talofa lava, American Samoa!
Welcome to the newly established official page for the Office of the Public Defender, American Samoa Government.
Our office is shifting official public communications to this new page to ensure proper management of our announcements, PSAs, public notices, service updates, and other important information shared by our office.
Our previous page, Public Defender's Office, holds many memories and moments from our office’s years of service. However, moving forward, this new page will serve as the primary source for current and official updates from the Office of the Public Defender.
Established in 1978, our office remains committed to protecting constitutional rights, ensuring meaningful access to justice, and providing legal representation to those who cannot afford counsel in criminal and related proceedings.
Please note that we cannot provide legal advice through Facebook or discuss individual cases online. This page is intended to help keep the public informed and connected with appropriate office updates and resources.
We are honored to serve the people of American Samoa and to continue the important work of defending the rights, dignity, and due process of every person we represent.
Please follow, like, and share this page to help us reconnect with the community.
Fa’afetai tele lava for following our page.
