08/06/2026
Adverse weather conditions are expected for American Samoa starting mid-week.
Wind: Trade winds will begin picking up on Tuesday. By early Wednesday, south-to-southeasterly winds could reach sustained speeds of up to 30 mph, with even higher gusts possible during passing trade wind showers. These breezy conditions are forecast to persist through the weekend.
Rain: As the winds increase, expect a rise in trade wind showers. By late week, we will be monitoring a slow-moving trough approaching from the north. Depending on its exact track and intensity, this system could bring heavy rainfall to the territory.
Seas: Rough seas will begin to develop late Tuesday due to the strengthening winds. Additionally, a powerful southern swell is projected to enter coastal waters by Wednesday, likely pushing surf to warning-level thresholds on Wednesday and Thursday. Hazardous marine conditions are expected to last until at least Saturday.
