Botschaft von Finnland in Wien - Suomen Itävallan suurlähetystö

Am 11. Juni besuchte Botschafterin Nina Vaskunlahti den Linzer Hafen – den größten Umschlagplatz an der oberen Donau. Rund 5 Millionen Tonnen Güter passieren diesen Knotenpunkt jedes Jahr. Das gesamte Areal des Linzer Handelshafens gehört zur städtischen Unternehmensgruppe LINZ AG.

Finland, in cooperation with , organized a side event entitled “Strengthening Evidence Based Crime Prevention in a Changing World” at the 35th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. The event brought together experts from Colombia, Kenya, Japan, Finland and UNODC.

Panelists exchanged information on effective policies, persistent gaps and practical areas for further development. Interventions concentrated on topics such as crime prevention among youth and children, prevention of fraud and reducing reoffending. The event built on CCPCJ resolution 34/4 “Advancing crime prevention at all levels”, which was tabled by Finland and adopted by the Commission in 2025.

Finland encourages Member States to join in on the follow-up of resolution 34/4, which mandated UNODC to gather information and submit a comprehensive report on crime prevention to the Commission in 2027.

🇫🇮Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces on 3 June
hosted by Ambassador Nina Vaskunlahti, Vesa Häkkinen, Permanent Representative to the OSCE and Colonel Tero Savonen, Defence Attache

“In National Defence, strength is not only based on equipment or troop numbers. Real strength relies on the common people’s will to defend their country,” stated Colonel Tero Savonen at the reception honoring the Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces.

Ambassador Nina Vaskunlahti noted that these are times that require resilience. “And that is something the Finns are famous for. Face the facts, plan and act accordingly”, underlined Ambassador Vaskunlahti.

June 4th marks not only this national celebration, but also the birthday of Marshal C. G. E. Mannerheim — a defining figure in Finland’s military history.

Today, medals are awarded, and distinguished soldiers and reservists are promoted. A moment to recognize dedication, service, and the shared will that forms the backbone of Finland’s defence.

Gestern durften wir einen besonderen Gast aus Vorarlberg in der Botschaft begrüßen:
Lilli Paasikivi, Künstlerische Leiterin der Bregenzer Festspiele.

In einem inspirierenden Austausch sprachen wir über Führung in kreativen Organisationen, über Motivation und darüber, wie wir kommende Generationen für kulturelle Aktivitäten begeistern können.

Dabei wurde deutlich: Führung in einer Kulturinstitution unterscheidet sich gar nicht so sehr von der Führung in einem Ministerium — die Herausforderungen sind oft erstaunlich ähnlich.
