Embaixada do Brasil em Viena / Brasilianische Botschaft in Wien

A partir de 1º de junho de 2026, os valores cobrados em moeda estrangeira para a emissão de passaportes brasileiros nas embaixadas e consulados do Brasil no exterior serão reduzidos pela metade, aproximando-os dos valores cobrados no Brasil.

A medida, formalizada pela Portaria MRE nº 664/2026, visa a contribuir para a manutenção da documentação brasileira em dia por parte de indivíduos e famílias binacionais no exterior, em especial de crianças nascidas fora do Brasil.

O passaporte é documento essencial ao exercício de direitos fundamentais dos cidadãos brasileiros no exterior. Ao torná-lo mais acessível, a medida reforça o compromisso do governo brasileiro com o aprimoramento contínuo dos serviços consulares e com a atenção à comunidade brasileira no mundo

No dia 23 de abril, celebramos o Dia Nacional do Choro com uma apresentação especial do Wiener Choro Ensemble — formado por Antônio de Pádua, Roberta Karin, João Vítor e Ricardo Ross — na Residência Oficial.

O repertório trouxe composições autorais de Antônio de Pádua e João Vítor, além de homenagens a grandes mestres do choro, como Pixinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim e Paulinho da Viola.

Para tornar a noite ainda mais especial, os artistas convidaram alunos do e músicos residentes em Viena a integrar a performance musical. 🎶🇧🇷

The security council has allowed unchecked power and brutality. To protect peace, we must reform the UN

The article published by The Guardian Mar 30 addresses the views of The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on the United Nations Security Council.

“Every violation of international law invites the next. From Afghanistan to Iran, and across Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Gaza and Venezuela, the line between what is permitted and what is prohibited has been steadily blurred by the complicit inaction of the UN security council. Wielding the veto as both a shield and a weapon, its permanent members too often act without grounding in the UN charter. They play with the fate of millions, leaving a trail of death and destruction.
Until recent years, there was at least an attempt to give interventions a veneer of legitimacy through UN endorsement. Today, the open exercise of power no longer even tries to keep up appearances. The guardrails of multilateral institutions are becoming too narrow to contain hegemonic rivalries. Without multilateralism, we risk replacing an imperfect system of collective security with the brutal reality of widespread insecurity. When all constraints on the use of force are removed, chaos prevails.

The world is witnessing the highest number of armed conflicts since the second world war. It is no coincidence that this is happening at a moment when democracy stands at a crossroads. Extremism is both the starting point and the end point of a vicious cycle. When governments allow themselves to be drawn into war by intolerance or the arrogance of power, they plant the seeds of resentment that yield more hatred and violence.

Technological advances with both civilian and military applications confront us with ethical questions. The selection of military targets is already being carried out by artificial intelligence, without legal or moral parameters in place. The principles of international humanitarian law – in particular the distinction between civilians and combatants – are under serious threat. Women and children are the primary victims of this collective tragedy.

We are living through an arms race that is pushing countries to devote ever larger shares of their budgets to armaments. Military spending globally, now about $2.7tn, absorbs valuable resources that could instead be used to fight hunger and poverty, confront the climate crisis, ensure universal access to education and promote digital inclusion. Even more egregious is the recurring use of hunger as a weapon of war, and the impunity with which forced displacement is carried out.

No bombs, drones or missiles can shield economies from the impact of armed conflict. Fluctuations in oil prices mean more expensive – or even inaccessible – energy and transport for businesses and consumers. Blockades constrain trade. Fertiliser shortages push up food prices and fuel inflation. Central banks raise interest rates, increasing public and private debt. Investment opportunities and jobs are lost.

Unilateral actions, arbitrary measures, violations of sovereignty and summary executions are becoming the rule. A study published in the Lancet shows that sanctions imposed without UN backing – particularly economic ones – affect mortality rates in targeted countries, and have, on average, been responsible for about half a million deaths each year since the 1970s.

Excessive power and instability go hand in hand. A world without rules is an insecure world, where anyone can be the next victim. Violence cannot replace dialogue, nor can force prevail over diplomacy. The prerogatives of the permanent members of the security council are already unjustifiable in an international order grounded in the sovereign equality of nations. When exercised irresponsibly, they become intolerable. It is time to respond with resolve by restoring the capacity of a reformed United Nations to act, so that it no longer remains a mere spectator to events that affect us all.”

Em 24 de março, o Trio Glauco Sölter (formado pelo baixista brasileiro e pelos músicos Gabriel Moraes Moraes e Matheus Jardim, ambos brasileiros residentes em Viena) apresentou-se na Residência Oficial, acompanhado pelo pianista cubano José Portillo Yadasny José Portillo Herrera . O repertório incluiu peças de jazz de autoria de Sölter, Portillo e Daniel Migliavacca. Sölter e Portillo encontram-se na Europa para realizar uma turnê na Eslovênia, com apoio da Embaixada em Liubliana. O público era composto por representantes permanentes junto às Organizações Internacionais em Viena dos países do Grupo Latino-Americano, além dos fundadores do Centro Acadêmico e Cultural Latino-Americano, produtores culturais e representantes da Thomastik-Infeld, empresa fabricante de cordas e resinas para instrumentos de cordas e patrocinadora de Gabriel Moraes.

Em 13 de março, o pianista Alexandre Dietrich apresentou, na Residência Oficial, peças de Claudio Santoro, Francisco Mignone, Ernesto Nazareth, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Chiquinha Gonzaga e Carmargo Guarnieri. O público era composto por brasileiros que atuam nos organismos das Nações Unidas sediados em Viena (Organização das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento Industrial [UNIDO], Escritório das Nações Unidas sobre Dr**as e Crime [UNODC], Escritório das Nações Unidas para Assuntos do Espaço Exterior [UNOOSA] e Agência Internacional de Energia Atômica [AIEA]).

🇧🇷 Nos dias 5 e 6 de março, o Embaixador Eduardo Saboia recebeu delegação parlamentar brasileira, composta de dois senadores e cinco deputados.

🇦🇹 Em 5/3, a comitiva realizou visita ao Parlamento austríaco, em Viena, ocasião em que se reuniram com membros do Grupo Parlamentar de Amizade Áustria–Brasil, Guiana e Suriname, bem como com integrantes da Comissão de Ciência, Pesquisa e Transformação Digital.

🤝🏽 O encontro proporcionou oportunidade para o fortalecimento do diálogo parlamentar e para o intercâmbio de perspectivas sobre temas de interesse comum entre Brasil e Áustria.

🇺🇳 Em 6/3, os parlamentares fizeram vista ao Escritório das Nações Unidas para Assuntos do Espaço Exterior (UNOOSA), sediado em Viena, onde se encontraram com a Diretora-Executiva do Escritório, Aarti Holla-Maini.

🚀 Nas Nações Unidas, a diretora fez apresentação sobre o trabalho desenvolvido pelo Escritório - sobretudo no que tange à capacitação e ao monitoramento de objetos lançados ao espaço exterior -, seguida de intercâmbio sobre o relacionamento entre o Escritório e o Brasil.

🇧🇷 On March 5th and 6th, Ambassador Eduardo Saboia welcomed a Brazilian parliamentary delegation composed of two senators and five deputies.

🇦🇹 On March 5th, the delegation visited the Austrian Parliament in Vienna, where they met with members of the Austria-Brazil, Guyana and Suriname Parliamentary Friendship Group, as well as members of the Committee on Science, Research and Digital Transformation.

🤝🏽 The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen parliamentary dialogue and exchange perspectives on topics of common interest between Brazil and Austria.

🇺🇳 On March 6th, the congressmen visited the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), located in Vienna, where they met with the Executive Director of the Office, Aarti Holla-Maini.

🚀 At the United Nations, the director gave a presentation on the work carried out by the Office - especially regarding capacity building and monitoring of objects launched into outer space - followed by an exchange on the relationship between the Office and Brazil.
