Overloaded power boards can overheat quickly and become a serious fire risk.

To help keep your home safe this winter:
✅ Don’t overload power boards
✅ Plug high-power appliances directly into wall outlets where possible
✅ Only use approved power boards and chargers
✅ Replace damaged cords or boards immediately
✅ Never daisy-chain power boards together

Look for:
⚠️ Frayed cords
⚠️ Scorch marks
⚠️ Exposed wires
⚠️ Damage to plugs or controllers

If something doesn’t look right — don’t risk it. Replace it.

A few extra reminders:

🔥 Don’t sleep with it left on overnight

🚒 Meet Firefighter Ayden! 🚒

Ayden joined Fire and Rescue NSW in October 2024 after wanting to become a firefighter since he was young. His passion for helping people and giving back to the community led him to join the crew at Abermain 202.

Outside of the station, Ayden works as a Health Coordinator in the mining industry and is also an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. He’s passionate about health, fitness, and supporting others both on and off the fireground.

One of Ayden’s favourite parts of the job is interacting with young kids during community engagement activities and helping educate the next generation about fire safety.

When he’s not at work or on station, you’ll usually find him bike riding, playing sport, or spending time with his family. He says one of the best things about our local community is how willing people are to help one another, even complete strangers.

Ayden believes serving the community is important because he wants to be the best role model possible for his kids — and what better place to do that than right here in his own community.

His advice to anyone thinking about joining Fire & Rescue NSW?
“It’s a big commitment, but the gratitude you receive from the community makes it all worthwhile.”
