Round four of applications for the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) are now open.
The DRF is the Commonwealth’s flagship initiative for disaster resilience and risk reduction.
Alice Springs Town Council were successful in applying for DRF funding for the development of an emergency coordination facility. It received $593,653 towards their total project cost of $667,074.
With the funding, will strengthen Council’s capacity and capability in disaster preparedness, and meeting its response and recovery obligations, as well as minimising business continuity risks for the organisation during and after a disaster.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Darwin River VBB and BFNT will be undertaking a prescribed burn, between Letchford road, and Litchfield park road, south of Cox Peninsula road. Its expected that this burn will produce significant smoke, its advised that people sensitive to the effects of smoke plan to be away from this area during the time frame of this burn.
For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.
