Round four of applications for the Disaster Ready Fund (DRF) are now open.

The DRF is the Commonwealth’s flagship initiative for disaster resilience and risk reduction.

Alice Springs Town Council were successful in applying for DRF funding for the development of an emergency coordination facility. It received $593,653 towards their total project cost of $667,074.

With the funding, will strengthen Council’s capacity and capability in disaster preparedness, and meeting its response and recovery obligations, as well as minimising business continuity risks for the organisation during and after a disaster.

STATUS: PLANNED BURN - A planned burn is currently underway.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility, Active fire may occur close to the roadside, Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Darwin River VBB and BFNT will be undertaking a prescribed burn, between Letchford road, and Litchfield park road, south of Cox Peninsula road. Its expected that this burn will produce significant smoke, its advised that people sensitive to the effects of smoke plan to be away from this area during the time frame of this burn.

For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions.

STATUS: UNDER CONTROL - The fire is at a stage where fire fighting resources are only required for patrol purposes and major re-ignition is unlikely.

RISKS FACED BY PEOPLE IN THE AREA: Smoke from this fire may affect visibility, Active fire may occur close to the roadside , Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside.

WHAT TO DO: Conditions may change, monitor conditions in your area. Stay informed until threat is reduced.

ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC: Bushfires NT advises that the Lambells Lagoon Volunteer Bushfire Brigade will be conducting planned burning operations along the roadside corridor between Kostka Road and Wanderrie Road.

Residents and motorists in the area may see smoke and fire activity associated with these operations. Smoke may affect visibility on local roads, particularly during the evening and overnight periods.

Motorists are reminded to drive to the conditions, slow down when encountering smoke, and remain alert for firefighting vehicles operating in the area.
