After some very thoughtful planning, and refined manufacturing techniques in the workshop we were back onsite today fitting up our bulkheads. This group has done a fine job of putting their 4 years of apprentice training into practice for this final assessment. One day to go till handover and everything looks on track. We made time today to recognise the nominees for the Phil Boron Memorial Award and also present the class with their commemorative Canyon Cup. As they near the end of their apprentice journey we spoke about recognising the significance of that sacrifice, the difficulties along the way and importantly the doors that have opened from completing a trade apprenticeship. It’s no easy feat, but definitely worthwhile. Well Done lads your teachers are proud of you.

Our Stage 8 Shopfitting apprentices started their final block of training this week. Their task ahead, to demolish this existing serpentine feature bulkhead in the TAFE QLD Boulevard and then design, setout, manufacture and install a replacement feature bulkhead.

Watch their journey over the next 3 weeks, as they undertake these final assessments taking on this task and developing their skills to overcome all of the day to day challenges of working in a live environment.

Very fine craftsmanship from the stage 7 Joinery training block. A great journey into the world of timber and tools. Some finishing touches still to come along with some decorative glazing. 👌
