Controversial 14-storey tower approved – on a single CBD block - CityMag | InDaily, Inside South Australia 12/09/2025

If we lived in Walkerville, I wonder if the decision would be different. A 14 story building on a piece of land as big as a tennis court in the middle of an area already heaving with the issues of social inequality and drug and alcohol dependence? This is bad town planning.

Council slams ‘shameful’ delay on parklands camping fix 11/08/2025

Council has worked cooperatively and positively with the Department of Human Service and the Police who are doing their best to accomodate people from remote areas who need to come to Adelaide for health and other reasons by providing services and assisting with journeys home but there is no secure place to stay before or after treatment.
Why was there no funding for a secure solution in the last state budget? These people are South Australians.
Lets get our prioirities right.

Council slams ‘shameful’ delay on parklands camping fix Frustrations are growing there is no long-term solution to replace what was meant to be a temporary camping hub for remote Aboriginal visitors in the Adelaide parklands.

Pirltawadli (Possum Park) is a very important place in our city. Listen to Mitzy Nam, chairperson of Kaurna Yerta Aboriginal Corporation talk about why it is a special place for her and for Kaurna people and Kaurna language.

This area is now identified as part of the development site for LIV golf in our parklands. Consultation is happening by the SA Government this month with Kaurna and other other Aboriginal people in SA, finishing on 31st July, yet there is no concept plan available as part of this consultation. At council tomorrow evening I am moving a motion for the Mayor to seek a more genuine consultation process from the Premier. Consultation with very short timeframes and no information is tokenistic and insulting.

Hysteria about change. If we steered our policies and projects only by the loudest voices we would not have a tram, frome street bike way, north south bike way, street trees, the wetlands …. The process for developing and adapting change involves listening to everyone and balancing everyone’s needs.

We are developing an inter grated transport strategy. It’s been a really good process with lots of community and expert input. Have a read and tell us what you think.

🚲🚌 What does the future of transport in Adelaide look like?

In Stage 1 of our consultation, nearly 800 people shared their thoughts on how we move around the city. Here's what we heard loud and clear:

✅ A strong call to prioritise public transport, walking/wheeling, and cycling
✅ A desire for safer, healthier, more connected streets
✅ A need to rethink how we manage street space, including parking
✅ A push for better cycling infrastructure—especially east-west connections
✅ And concerns about the impacts of through-traffic in the city

We're now in Stage 2 of our journey, and we’ve drafted an Integrated Transport Strategy.

This is your chance to tell us if we've got it right and to help shape the next steps.

Consultation closes 25 May: https://brnw.ch/21wSmf5

Im in the process of getting more info about the works in eastern side of whitmore square. It is SAPN we think and they have no obligation to talk with council but have told residents about a road closure. This is much bigger than expected- site office, toilettes, fencing on both sides of the road, trampling gardens and digging up paths, scaffolding, WTF!!!!
At the very least they should be made to make good anything damage back damage and return the square to how they found it.
We need more respect and more information for residents.
The noise is awful.
When I hear more I will let you know.
SAPN should do better!!

It’s Christmas time and many people are doing it tough. The city homeless services are busy making the season less lonely and more festive for all. If you can donate your time or money or both, please do.

Dilapidated park lands sports facility finally set for upgrade - CityMag | InDaily, Inside South Australia 06/12/2024

Over the last two years, we have consulted with the community about how to fix the dilapidated facilities on the parklands the council owns, fairly and sustainably. We now have a set amount allocated in the budget each year, we have criteria for upgrading, a balanced policy, and will soon consider a new policy on leasing and licensing. Safety, women's sports, community access, sustainable design, and parklands footprint are now all factors in decision-making.
