Been given an unfair contract? The law protects you.

All terms in a standard form ‘take it or leave it’ contract must be fair.

If it’s one-sided or could cause you harm - and you can’t cancel the contract - it may be unfair.

🚫 You don’t have to accept unfair terms.
👉 Challenge it or report it.

There’s 1 month to go until new seafood labelling laws come into force.

From 1 July 2026, hospitality businesses must label the country of origin of seafood served for immediate consumption.

Menus must clearly show whether seafood is:
- Australian (A)
- Imported (I)
- Mixed origin (M).

The changes are part of Australian Consumer Law and apply to restaurants, cafés, pubs, takeaways and other hospitality settings.

High prices aren’t always illegal - misleading customers is.

Businesses can generally set their own prices, influenced by things like costs, supply and demand. Sharp increases – also known as price gouging - aren’t illegal on their own. But misleading customers about the reason for a price rise is.
